The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) published nationally established standards for firearm locks in 1949. These standards mandated the use of all-steel construction and a two-position electronic unlocking device known as an indelible code keypad or code padlock In 1978, the Department of Justice sponsored a study on how to improve firearm security within communities across America. The study found that many jurisdictions did not currently use any form of secure handgun storage system other than locked cabinets or cases. As a result, the Department recommended that all law enforcement agencies installgun locker systems within their precincts By 1990, over 50 percent of United States law enforcement agencies had implemented at least one type of secure handgun storage system using either keyed or electronic unlocking devices Today, gun lock technology is still used extensively by law enforcement officials throughout America to protect firearms from theft and misuse

Federal Way is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 17,872 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bellevue– Federal Way Metropolitan Statistical Area. Federally Way began as a US military road in 1907 and ended as an expressway in 1964. The name "Federal Way" was given to it by then-President Theodore Roosevelt in 1916 for his role in helping to create the area that now includes Federal Way and much of Des Moines County. The first store opened on Federal Way between Everett and Issaquah on November 16, 1907. The modern-day city of Federal Way was founded on December 3, 1912 when the Territorial Highway No. 5 (later State Route 10) connected Redmond with Olympia via Federal Way and Roysville Road. At its creation, the city included all of what is now King County except for parts of Bellevue and Bothell Counties which were later annexed into Seattle. Today's federal district includes much of both King County as well as portions of Pierce, Thurston and Snohomish Counties in Washington state. The first post office opened at Federal WAY on October 15th 1906 (the last mail service operating from Redmond). On January 1st 1907 the original townspeople voted to annex portions of Bothell and Bellevue counties so that they could form a new town called Lakewood within their own jurisdiction - this annexation occurred effective February 14th 1907

Many local residents continue to live and work in this area today because of these initiatives. Today, Federal Way is a thriving community with many cultural activities available for residents, as well as excellent schools that provide opportunities for young people to grow up healthy and appreciate their diversity.
