The first settlers to arrive in what is now Everett were John Townsend and Anna Walton. They traveled from Boston in 1853 on horseback overland to start a new life in what would become known as Everett. Anna Walton married John Townsend and they together started the community of Everett on July 10th, 1853 with just 12 people living in their log cabin on riverbank overlooking Lake Stevens. Anna Walton played an important role in developing Everett as it became a thriving town that soon boasted a full-time school and two churches (the First Presbyterian Church built1868) and began growing rapidly thanks to its natural resources such as timber, salmon fishing, logging, farming and tourism opportunities which continue to this day! In 1863 when Mount Vernon merged into Everett it became one of the largest villages west of Seattle with over 100 residents! The population reached 300 by 1880 but decreased significantly due to immigration restrictions placed on Puget Sound communities during the late 1800s until finally becoming extinct by 1920 Due largely to World War II military production projects there was an increase not only in the number of people but also homes which caused prices for property to skyrocket! Today there are still few families left who live within walking distance of all services including small businesses which have brought much needed economic stability back into these areas!

This event helped spur development in Everett and other surrounding towns and villages that followed over time. Over $500,000 was sold at an auction held at Olympia Parkgrounds on July 11th, 1853. This represented one-third of all Beverly Hills owned by Territorial residents at that time! The large amount of money involved indicates just how valuable land was then being marketed for sale within this fledgling territory!
