Everett, Washington is a small town located in the Soo Locks Area of the State of Michigan. It was founded by Alexander Graham Bell in 1854 and became an American city in 1907. Everett's history reflects its location - on the banks of the Washtenaw River, just west of downtown Detroit. The first ammunition depot was built here in 1856, and today there are several thousand businesses and citizens who contribute to Everett's economy. Ammunition has been a significant factor in Everett's growth over the years, as well as its unique character. The first ammunition factory was built on this site in 1857 by John Cockerill and his brother-in-law George Stephenson. This factory manufactured cannons for the British Army, and during World War I it produced munitions for both sides. In 1932, Alcoa announced plans to build a new ammo plant here; however, local residents successfully campaigned to keep the facility open until 1976. Today Alcoa operates two Ammo stores within walking distance of each other - one on First Street East and one on Third Street East - making Everett an important center for ammunition production throughout Northwest Michigan. There has been continuous ammunition production here since 1800; Alcoa began manufacturing rifle rounds here in 1903. The company continues to produce munitions today through their affiliate companies including Federal Weapons Company (FWC), Wolfchen Ammunition Company (WAC), United Munitions Manufacturing Corporation (UMM), Browning Arms Inc., Colt Canada Firearms Corporation (CCFC) and Smith & Wesson USA Incorporated (SWIN). In 2017 Alcoa announced they would be selling their firearms division to Cerberus Capital Management LP; this will mark the end of more than 150 years of tobacco industry ownership at Alcoa Co.; however,Alcoa still manufactures artillery rounds, Reloadibles products and related items across North America under their own name with facilities located near Rochester Hills, MI

In 1807, a new type of ammunition called shot fired by rifle became available thanks to Captain James Cook during his exploration voyage around the world. This type of ammo consisted only of small pieces of metal that were fired at high speed into surrounding water or air creating an explosive effect. This type of ammo proved to be very effective against enemy vessels and it quickly became popular among navies all over the world. By 1812, shot had been extended to include other types such as bomb shells which were made up either from metal or paper material that would burst upon impact with another object such as a soldier or building target. By this point, shot had also become renamed grenade because it had finally found its way into battle in significant numbers! By 1818 grenades had completely replaced shot as both common infantry rounds and naval shelling projectiles due to their effectiveness as explosive devices when detonating on impact with targets or soldiers alike (see photo below). Grenade usage continued to grow throughout the 19th century until World War I when grenade use completely stopped due to technological advances!
