Enumclaw is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,822 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The name Enumclaw is from the Wenatchee word "enuman," meaning "a small quantity." The first settler in what became Enumclaw was John Potter in 1853. Potters family moved to the area around 1900 and built the first white house on land that now includes most of town. Enumclaw School District No. 5 opened in 1907 and served students from kindergarten through sixth grade until it merged with Kenton School District No. 9 in 2003. In 2006, Enumclaw voters approved a $242 million bond issue to build two new schools, which were dedicated in 2007 and will serve students grades seven through twelve. One school was completed in 2009; the other began construction in 2010 and is set to open late 2019 or 2020. According to the 2000 census, there were 1,752 people living in Enumclawtownshipsage total of 2,822 residents when it incorporated as a town on January 3rd 1959 under jurisdiction of King County (the old county boundaries). The population has grown steadily since then with annexation by Bellevue and Kirkland Counties since then - totaling 4,034 people as of2010- including 498 residents who live within the city limits of Seattle proper

Enumclaw is a small town in King County, Washington. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bellevue-Everett metropolitan area. The name "Enumclaw" is derived from the Nisqually word "enumknaw", meaning "big bay". The first European to visit Enumclaw was Juan Rodriguez de Montoya in 1692 during his exploration of the northwestern portion of what is now King County. In 1853, John Wesley Powell passed through Enumclaw while exploring the Columbia River Gorge and named it after his friend and mentor, George Cascades. A post office opened in 1865, and by 1870, there were two churches in town—one Presbyterian and one Methodist—and twelve businesses including four stores, two hotels/motels, four grain elevators and a sawmill. In 1907, local farmers began irrigation with water brought over on horse boats from Lake Washington via a canal they had dug across its surface. This new technology allowed for more crop production all around the village than could have been accomplished with traditional techniques such as ditching land and flooding it again several times a year. A fire destroyed most of their equipment in 1912 but not beforeumerated farmer Waddell Denny built an experimental windmill to generate electricity for townspeople using sails that he pushed up against the mill's wall using poles he had driven into the ground; this first electric light bulb was lit up inside Enumclaw's Post Office on October 15th 1912 by Waddell Denny himself! The arrival of Interstate 5 made traffic congestion increasingly difficult for residents living outside of Everett so much so that some decided to move to Bellevue where they would be able to get workoutside of town without fear of being too close to I-5 or other cars. By 1978 Enumclaw had lost all economic activity due largely to high demand by neighboring Bellevue for its ever growing housing stock which contributed greatly also to increasing taxes within our community despite efforts by our elected officials at both levelsto keep things affordable
Enumclaw was an Indian Reservation located in the Puget Sound area of Washington. It was established in 1853 and lasted until 1907. The reservation was bounded by the currents of the Snake River on the east, Interstate 5 on the west, and Mount Rainier National Park on the north.
