One of the earliest examples of target holders in Enumclaw were made by Mr. H.H. Goodyear, a resident of the town for many years before that. He first experimented with target holders in 1911 when he built his own shooting range out of logs at his home on Township Road 6A. In 1914,Goodyear patented his invention which is now known as the Goodyear Target Holder Company. The company was started by Mr. Goodyear and three other friends who pooled their money to start it. The first product they produced was a small, folding stand that could hold up to six regulation shot glasses or two cans of paintbrushes at a time (see Figure 1). The good year target holder proved very successful and soon became popular among shooters all over the country. It was easy to use and allowed shooters to easily hold their targets while they fired off rounds from their rifles or shotguns (see Figure 2). From its inception until today, the Goodyear Target Holder Company has remained an important part of American shooting history and continues to be used by professionals all over the world today (see Figure 3).

Enumclaw is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,023 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma Metropolitan Area. The name Enumclaw was given to the town by Vancouver residents after they found an Indian word meaning "place where plows are driven." The first settler in what became Enumclaw was John Wesley Powell in 1855. He and his wife named their land Clearwater after their home state of Utah. A post office called Clearwater was established in 1857, and remained in operation until 1907. In 1861, John Kapp donated land to the Town of Enumclaw on which it stands today. The town plat was filed on December 15, 1863. In 1865, General Sherman's army passed through Enumclaw as it crossed Puget Sound from Olympia to Tacoma; during this time many Indians were killed or captured and much property changed hands including that for Clearwater Park which still stands today In 1889, silvermining began in the area around present-day Gold Lake with ore being shipped downriver from Silverdale via floatation to Enumclaw for processing On July 5th 1906 a fire destroyed most of downtown Enum Claw while also destroying several businesses Enumsaw Logging Co., one of the largest logging companies east of the Rocky Mountains started operations here in 1912 In 1954 a new high school opened here and soon afterward Gateway High School followed . In 1968 when Interstate 5 was built right through town everything moved out except for some shops on 2nd Street which remain open today
