Enumclaw is a small town in Washington State, located on the banks of the Enumclaw River. The population was 1,751 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Wenatchee–Chelan County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town began as a log cabin settlement in 1859 near what is now the Enumclaw Dam. In 1870, settlers built a post office and store at what is now the intersection of U.S. Route 97 and State Route 7A (the old routing of US 97). By 1900, Enumclaw had a school, Methodist church, hotel and other businesses. The community experienced rapid growth during World War II as soldiers were stationed here for military service; by 1945, it had over 100 residents. During the late 20th century and early 21st century, much development occurred in Enumclaw; several new businesses were opened up including an Amazon Kindle store in 2013 and Microsoft's Redmond campus in 2015. As technology continues to evolve, so too has Enumclaw with several new restaurants and bars opening up since 2016 such as CAKE & COFFEE which replaced an old bakery that closed down in 2014; CANDY BAR which replaced an unsuccessful candy store attempt back in 2002; PIZZERIA ENUMCALLOWE which became operational on January 2nd 2017 after years of planning by local entrepreneurs; JELLY BARGERIE’S which became operational on December 14th 2017 after months of planning by local chefs; KFC also made its debut into town when their restaurant opened up next to SONIC'S BURGER KING locations across from CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE LEGO MOVIE -MEGA MAN- on October 28th 2018 followed by Waffle House making its debut one week later on November 4th 2018

Enumclaw was founded in 1792 by the De Clerkenwell family. The town rapidly grew and soon became a center for the local fur trade. In 1854, Enumclaw became the county seat of King County. The population swelled to over 10,000 during the late 1800s and early 1900s, making it one of the largest cities in Washington State. However, Enumclaw's growth slowed during World War I and World War II due to lack of resources. Today, Enumclaw is a small community with a limited number of residents. The history of Enumclaw began with settlers who arrived in 1792 on horseback from New York City. The first settler named John Estes landed at what is now known as Point Defiance on May 6th that year. He and his family left behind four children: John (1793-1866), Stephen (1801-1872), Sarah (1803-1875) and Anna (1800-1876). In 1854, when Territorial Governor Moses Lake created King County, Enumclaw was chosen as its county seat because it had an approved plat for office buildings and courthouse which would serve as a model for all future counties in the region. The population of Enumclaw increased rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s due to increasing Hispanic immigration from Mexico; however, this growth slowed after World War I and World War II because there were no major resources available to support such large populations. As recently as 1925, only 2% of the population lived within 1 mile of any public building or highway! today only about 1/5th that number lives within 1/2 mile of any type public services! Today's economy is based largely on agriculture which has been around since before white settlement; however, there are also some light industry jobs available in various fields including government contracting, information technology and engineering services. There have also been recent efforts by Mayor Dave Bing to revive downtown business activity by creating new businesses within walking distance from city hall along 5th Avenue SE
