Ellensburg is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. It is located on the north bank of the Wenatchee River and about 14 miles (23 km) east of Seattle. The first permanent settlers in what is now Ellensburg were white men who arrived by boat from British Columbia in 1847. They named their new land "Ellensburgh," after General James K. Polk's estate in Georgia where they had been living since 1846. The first post office was established in 1851, and the first store opened in 1853. A sawmill and gristmill were built here soon after; these continued to be used until 1909 when both mills became commercial enterprises with product sales taking place at different locations within the town limits. In 1865, a schoolhouse was built; that same year saw construction of a second store, this one becoming known as "The millrace." In 1870, a group of Scotsmen led byacher Donald McKay founded an agricultural colony called McKay Settlement on 3 acres (1 ha) along the banks of the Wenatchee River northeast of town center; it quickly grew into one of Washington's most successful small towns – with over 100 residents by 1880! By 1900, adjacent properties had also been purchased for agricultural development: today much of that land still stands undeveloped save for some scattered housing developments and recreational areas. During World War II many local businesses contributed to American production including munitions manufacturing at nearby Clark Air Force Base as well as civilian aircraft production at Boeing facilities just south of town on Chelan Lake Drive; all while providing employment for many local citizens both during wartime and afterwards! On July 8th 1948 Ellensburg voters passed an ordinance annexing Bothell to form what would become Ellensburg-Bothell Township which became effective September 15th 1948! Today little remains except for a few patches of forest near Main Street which serve as hiking/biking trails following Roman Road south from downtown through ancient farmlands now cloaked in invasive trees! The only other structure remaining from those early times is an old log courthouse building dating back to 1906 which currently houses visitor services for the township hall located behind it…..

In 1970, taser inventor Rick Swartz unveiled his new device at a conference in California called “Taming Technology: Advances Over 20 Years” sponsored by American Electric Power Company (AEP). At this conference, he demonstrated how Tasers could kill rodent pests control birds during egg production, reduce livestock damage from ticks during tick season, and finally stop cattle from fighting while grazing on public land

Ellensburg is a small town in Thurston County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue metropolitan area. The first known permanent settler in what is now Ellensburg was David Thompson on July 26, 1851. He and his family camped near present day Central Park before moving to their own land three miles east of town on July 8, 1853. In 1854, they built a log cabin on the site of today's First Baptist Church. The following year they erected a more substantial cabin which still stands today as one of the most recognizable landmarks in town. In 1865, John Davenport started an agricultural enterprise which became one of the largest in Thurston County and produced crops such as wheat, potatoes, apples and corn for local marketplaces throughout much of Washington State; also exported to Oregon and California markets. In 1870 he began erecting a two story frame house on what is now Fourth Avenue near Main Street which served as his business headquarters until his death in 1915. Mrs. Davenport continued to live there until her death in 1984; it currently serves as the historical museum building for nearby Ellensburg College (now Eastern Washington University). In 1907 the Territorial Legislature designated Thurston County as part of King George's Pierce Counties when Puget Sound Territory was created from sections of Kitsap and Snohomish counties.. By 1912 rural residents had petitioned county commissioners to establish a post office atEllensburg so that mail could be delivered directly to households without havingto go through Tacoma or Bellevue.. On November 5th 1912 Commissioners established an office at Ellensburg with Wm Henson serving as the first Postmaster General.. This new post office remained operational until 1953 when it was closed due to postwar military relocation efforts.. On January 1st 1919 change took place within Thurston County when all but 2/3s of its territory (southwest corner including current day Everett) were transferred from Kitsap County annexation into Thurston County proper boundary by then Mayor Harry Hellman who argued that this would provide more sorely needed services for Ellensburg including fire protection for newly developed areas adjacent to Highway 99W between Everett and Lynnwood .. addition has been made annually since then adding another 3/4ths acreage leaving only about .5 square mile inside Thurston boundaries
The town of Ellensburg was founded in 1853 by George Washington Carver and his wife Rachel. The first store in the town opened its doors in 1854. The population of Ellensburg grew rapidly after it was annexed by Seattle in 1889, with a population of over 100,000 by 1907. Ellensburg became an important agricultural center during the late 19th century, with large crops such as cotton and corn. One of the most significant events to occur in the town was the signing of the Treaty of Port Townsend on July 20, 1903 which ended World War I.
