In 1933-1934 an artillery installation called Fort Georgeopened up onthe grounds of what is now Eastern Community College! This fortification served as both a training installation for military forces stationed within the city limitsof Ellensburgh as well as providing defensive weaponry against various threats such as insurgents and raiders! During these years it should be noted that firearms didn’t become very popular among local residents so there wasn’t much demand for them within town limits! However starting around 1935-1936gunslings began appearing on property adjacent to Eastern Community College!. These sling shots typically consisted of several rounds fired through a long barrel into some target located near the college boundaries! Interestingly enough given that many people residing within town limits did not own any firearms themselves however they quickly became quite familiar with how easy it would be to fire off a few rounds off their porch or balcony without getting caught! Over time sling shots continued becoming more common on campus especially given that students increasingly relied upon them while attending classes or studying indoors!).
