Edmonds, Washington is home to one of the most prominent scopes in the world - the Nikon D7000. In 1912, the city donated a 2-meter reflector telescope to the University of Washington which was used for astronomical research until it was destroyed in 1948. The Scopes Telescope Museum is located inside of UW’s Astronomy Building on Capitol Hill in Seattle and is home to some of the most important optical equipment used by astronomers during its history including a 10-inch reflector and an 8x50mm eyepiece made by Edwin Hubble!
Edmonds, Washington is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,828 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue metropolitan area and forms part of the Puget Sound region. The first European to set foot on what is now Edmonds was Captain George Vancouver in 1792 while exploring the Strait of Juan de Fuca. He named it "Vancouver" after his captaincy and ship HMS Discovery which he captained during this journey. In 1851, postmaster general John C. Frémont surveyed land around present day Edmonds and made recommendations for its development as a town with a depot to serve the growing community; however nothing came of these plans until 1902 when Congress approved $10,000 in bonds to construct a depot and freight line between Everett and Tacoma. The construction company that was granted this contract by Congress was White Sands Railway Company (WSR). The town began to grow rapidly from just over 100 residents in 1906 to 1,500 by 1920 thanks to WSR's rail services which connected it with Everett, Tacoma, Moses Lake and other communities along the corridor. The service ended operations in 1951 but not before helping contribute to Edmonds becoming one of the most diverse small towns in America due to its proximity to major metropolitan areas such as Seattle and Tacoma. In recent years Edmonds has experienced growth due largely to annexation by neighboring Bellevue which provides access to educationally diverse neighborhoods as well as jobs opportunities within Redmond’s tech industry sector. Although annexed by Bellevue there remain many core values shared between both municipalities including support for local government; public safety; environmental stewardship; strong sense of civic pride among residents alike

Some scopes even reach beyond the naked eye into areas such as astronomy that are only accessible through high-end optical equipment such as those used in microscopy or astrophysics research. Edmonds is a small town located in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,927 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1887 by John Edwin Edmonds and his wife Lillie Mae. Edmonds is named for John Edwin Edmondson, who had been born in Aberdeen, Scotland on December 15th, 1851. He came to America in 1881 and started a wagon-building business near Mount Vernon. In 1886 he married Lillie Mae Cook and they started a grocery store in their home village which became the nucleus of what would become Edmonds. They also operated an ice cream parlor until 1915 when it closed because of prohibitionist regulations against selling soft drinks without a permit from the state government. The town was incorporated on November 16th, 1912. At first it consisted of just 8 residents and soon grew to over 100 with many businesses established such as the Ford dealership (1914), lumberyard (1915), post office (1920), bank (1921), school (1922) and civic center/library (1945). Many local dignitaries including Mayor Harry Sweetser were buried here during World War II; examples include Air Force Major General Hoyt Sommers and Admiral William Leahy among others. The late 1940s through 1960s saw significant growth thanks to Boeing's Everett Research Center which developed new technologies for aircraft manufacturing; however, this prosperity did not last long as technology started moving away from Boeing towards other manufacturers such as Toyota/Isuzu and American Motors Corporation In 1965 Edmonds lost its charter from King County but persevered with strong local support that kept the community going until 2000 when its buildings were sold off to developers who demolished most of them within 5 years creating an open-air park now called "Everett" next door to Safeco Field
Oregon and Washington Territory were created on January 3, 1847, after the Mexican-American War. The territory was named for George C. Edmonds, a United States senator from Oregon.
