Edmonds is a small town in the Yakima Valley of Washington, United States. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the city of Yakima. In 1912 Seattle annexing most of Puget Sound added Edmonds to its expanded boundaries; accordingly, all church services were moved to Olympia beginning on Easter Sunday 1912. Thereafter only parish functions took place in Edmonds - no school or other government activities ever took place here beyond keeping records (and sometimes sending reports back home to large cities). Edmonds is a town in Whatcom County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,951 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The first European settlers in what is now Edmonds were Scottish farmers who arrived around 1792. They named their new land "Edmonds" after their merchant friend and mentor, Alexander Edmondson. Over time, other pioneers also settled here including John James Audubon and his brother-in-law David Douglas MacArthur. In 1855, when the towns of Auburn and Lynnwood were founded in what are now King County by General George Custer's Indian Expedition, Edmonds became an incorporated village with its own government and school system. However it would not become a permanently inhabited community until 1902 when the town fathers voted to annex unincorporated parts of Everett and Bothell counties to form a new municipality. In 1907 the communities of Lynnwood (now Bellevue) and Everett consolidated into one municipality under the name of Edmonds. In 1916, when Washington Statehood was granted to Washington Territory by Congress, Edmonds again became an incorporated town with its own government and school system as well as its own post office which continued until 1959 when it merged with nearby Bothell into one municipality known today as Bothell/Edmonds/Aurora which has since grown much larger than either of those previous municipalities by annexing many rural villages within its boundaries over time including Sammamish Village in 1993; North Bend in 1998; Woodinville in 2003; Diamond Hill in 2006; Puyallup on July 1st 2009; Moses Lake on January 3rd 2013 It was not until 2019 that both satellite towns of Issaquah (Fremont) - which are located immediately adjacent to downtownSeattle - joined forces with edmunds for what is now called "CWED". This merger created what will be the most suburban location within Seattle limits yet still maintain close ties to downtown through public transportation options such as bus rapid transit or streetcars running directly along First Avenue between Dupont Circle and Queen Anne’s Park
