Mayor Bob Sims eventually signed off on the ban despite strong opposition from many residents* who felt that such restrictive measures would not reduce crime but instead increase it*. *Although this ban did ultimately reduce crime rates*, some argue that it may have done so at a cost far beyond what could be anticipated given preexisting criminal behavior

Edmonds, Washington is a town in King County, Washington. The population was 7,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Edmonds were two sea captains, Alexander Selkirk and Robert Gray, in 1792. They named the spot "Eddington" after Lieutenant Colonel Edmund Fenton of the British army who had been sent to explore Puget Sound region around that time. The first permanent settler in Edmonds was Captain John Lacey who built a log cabin on what is now Fourth Street in 1824. He was followed by his brother-in-law Daniel Webster who settled on land he purchased from Chief Joseph Kettleman near Presentation Lake in 1828. In 1835 Captain George Aylett established a trading post at present day Third Avenue and North Center Street which became known as Aylett's Landing (now Third Avenue South). In1839 Sergeant James Denny built a small cabin on what is today First Avenue Northeast and East Pike Street for himself and his family before moving to his current location about one mile northeast of present day Edmonds on November 1, 1840. In 1861 when King County was created it included all of King County except for portions of Seattle which were annexed by Tacoma later that year. On January 1, 1865, Edmonds incorporated as a town with a population of only 153 people due to heavy drought conditions caused by unusually warm winter weather conditions across much of the continent including parts of western Washington states such as Olympia where temperatures averaged just below freezing during December and January; this unusual warmth also led to extensive tree mortality due to freeze/thaw damage associated with October freezes that affected many local farms statewide including Edmonds where several roadblocks remained throughout November until finally being lifted late into December resulting in significant tree growth resulting especially along Adam Creek near Third Avenue NE) Beginning around 1870 various entrepreneurs began developing parcels east of downtownSeattle including John Dayock who established an extensive farmstead south east ofpresent day Pioneer Square; August Busch developed land northwestof present day Interstate 5 between edburne Road NW and Greenwood Ave NEand William Whitehead developed land southwestof present day Interstate 5 between Snoqualmie Pass Rd NW and Methow Blvd NW forcing many farmers out onto their properties Damon Runyon owned some large tracts adjoining Snoqualmie Pass Rd NW which ran through most or all or parts or both Sedgewick & Richland counties made him one half owner or beneficial interest holder thereinwith others having partial interests thereuntil finally breakup thereof followingOrdinance No 2190 dated May 61920 dividing said areas among owners thereof thereby creating Wenatchee Valley Campaign Committee controlled by Messrs Wiggin & Forbes controls over those tracts thenceforward see attached map showing boundaries thereof

Edmonds is a town in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 4,812 at the 2010 census. Edmonds is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. It is located on Puget Sound and bordered by Des Moines Bay to the east and Bainbridge Island to the west. The first white person in what is now Edmonds was John Atwater, who settled there in 1847 with his family. A post office called Atwater was established in 1851, but it was discontinued in 1865. In 1876, George Prentice founded an ice cream business in town and named it after himself. The town name may be derived from "ed-dons" or "purdy", two local hills that are both easily seen from downtown. In 1892, Hiram Lodge built a sawmill on Mukilteo Creek near present day Edmonds Lake (now known as Mukilteo). The mill operated until 1902 when it closed because of economic recession caused byWorld War I and the general depression of1920-21. The Lodge Sawmill Museum still stands today on Mukilteo Creek about a half mile upstream from where the mill once stood. During World War II, many people worked at Boeing's Everett plant which were located just outside of town limits across Bainbridge Island waters near Mount Rainier National Park (). Some 8% of all Boeing jobs were created here during World War II; these jobs include production line workers such as riveters and toolmakers as well as engineers who designed aircraft engines and other airplane parts (). After the war ended, many residents left for various reasons (such as job loss or relocation to rural areas), but some stayed behind to help rebuild their towns following the war’s devastation (). The current incarnation of Edmonds began developing rapidly after incorporation on January 1, 1959 when citizens voted by referendum to become an unincorporated community under state law establishing Kitsap County's first township system (). Incorporation proceedings took only six weeks due to overwhelming support (), despite protestations from nearby buildings including Boeing's Everett plant which continued operations while most residents remained inside city limits via residency permits () . On July 17th 1960 voters passed Initiative No 167 asking for annexation into city limits; this vote signaled an unequivocal change in fortunes for Edmonds – formerly considered a backwater outpost with few amenities () – as one of southeast King County’s fastest growing communities (). Over time edmondians have come increasingly self-reliant through vigorous marketing efforts spearheaded by Mayor Phil Gabel (), aggressive real estate development (), AND numerous TasteofEdmonds events (); each year brings hundreds of visitors () - making this one if not Canada’s most popular small town!
