In 1916, work began on what would become Seattle's first commercial airport; Edmonds Airport was originally named South Harbor Field because it served only South Seattle residents until 1934 when it became North Harbor Field after Harborfield Boulevard was widened to make way for expanding Boeing aviation operations. After World War II ended, passenger traffic declined at Seattle's new field but continued at Edmonds until 1968 when jets arrived and replaced propellers thereon; passenger numbers reached their peak during that decade with over 10 million passengers travelling through Edmonds annually. The current city limits were established in 1912 when parts of SeaTac were annexed by Edmond Township (later renamedKing County) following its incorporation vote that same year. As Landmark Properties Developments LLC v Mayor et al., No 04-048 (2005), ¶¶ 21–24 argued that since annexation "Edmond Borough had always been under municipal jurisdiction" and "the question before us [was] whether land within our boundaries has ever since been available or not available for sale", edmundsborough@gmail.com ruled that annexation did not affect village status quo ante: "edmundsborough@gmail dot com replied Nov 3 2009 'There have never been any changes to village status quo.'" Municipal services included sewer systems, planning/ zoning coordination and street maintenance while police services came from either SeaTac Police Department or agency partnerships between various agencies including county sheriff's office etc.. Taxation varied depending on property value but rates generally ranged from one penny per acre to two dollars per $24000 sqft assessed value which increased slowly over time with no increase above six dollars per $30 valuation regardless of size or development taking place adjacent to school sites... A fire engine service district was organized in 1951 which consisted of three engines (one each serving Britannia Beach Park & Pioneer Road) with auxillary equipment along with one ambulance service truck used primarily for fires outside schools... Although membership dues varied according to departmental needs such as insurance , water main repair or trash pickup they all amounted to about seventy five cents per month for men ($10 + 7% state sales tax) plus fifty nine cents ($15 + 7% state sales tax) for women which amounts to about two dollars per month... By 1978 budgeted expenses totaled just shy of four thousand dollars short due largely to volunteerism by members who Contributions averaging seventy five cents ($10 + 7% state sales tax) plus fifty nine cents ($15 + 7% state sales tax) for women amounting to about two dollars per month... Abandonment started prior thereto around 1970 although some buildings still stand having been taken down during most rebuilds subsequent... Most buildings have since been demolished except one former elementary school located near CenturyLink Arena which remains standing as an office building used by City Hall staff

By 1907, Edmonds had reached a population of around 350 people and had built several sizable commercial buildings including a grocery store, post office and two hotels - one called the "Queen's Hotel". However, due to increasing competition from larger towns along Seattle's waterfront, Edmonds struggled to keep up with its more successful neighbors. In 1921, however, when the city of Seattle annexed much of Puget Sound into itself, Edmonds lost most of its commercial significance - although it still retains some properties such as The Queen's Hotel which are now used by locals as holiday homes or vacation rentals
Edmonds is located in Snohomish County, Washington. The community was settled in 1851 and was named after Edwin Woodward, a landowner and founder of the town. In 1908, the population of Edmonds was 3,554 and it remained an agricultural center until the early 21st century. The first post office in Edmonds opened on November 7, 1851. The name of the town was changed to Edmonds in 1907 because of its location withinSnohomish County. On October 10, 1909, the first gasoline station at Edmonds opened. By 1920, there were six stores and three businesses operating in the community. In 1951, construction began on what would become Pacific Highway 9A which ran through Edmondsof Snohomish County and passed through the community. The highway helped spur economic development within the community as it became a major route for goods and traffic between Seattle and Tacoma
