Edmondson Avenue (now Interstate 5) was first developed as a farming town roads leading home from work on farms east of downtown; today it stretches all the way to Everett and connects with I-5 just south of SeaTac Airport). A few years later a railroad depot replaced an existing mill complex on Maple Street as one approach to downtown; today that depot still stands as a reminder of how this town started out small but soon became one of KING county's most important commercial hubs. In 1907 Gilbert Hutton opened his general store at NE 123rd St & SE Thurston Ave which became known as Hutton's Discount Store until 1972 when it closed due to high competition from Safeway stores opening up adjacent throughout that decade across much larger lots next door - essentially ending much local retail activity within a few blocks radius - although Gilbert Hutton may have still been visited by Customers inside his store even decades later! In 1916 construction began on the current courthouse which eventually served both Edmonds Municipal Court (established in 1911) and King County Superior Court until 1976 when those same courts moved out west across First Avenue (then SR 904) into new facilities at Westlake Place - also now part of Everett - following annexation intoKing County subsequent to various political changes taking place during World War II including increased agricultural production spurred by Boeing’s expansion plans along I-5 corridor northward parallel with then rural farmland including portions now located inside SeaTac Airport! However despite growing population growth throughout these years virtually no major development took place within walking distance either outside or inside Edmonds aside perhaps briefly beginning around late 1960s/early 1970s when several small businesses relocated relatively close to newly developing Stadium Place housing projects +/- light industrial+ office park concepts (+ possibly some residential conversions +/-), although such examples are typically quite rare given property values have continued increasing significantly well beyond any significant redevelopment/development efforts currently underway/possible future considering nearby stadiums continue being used primarily for professional sports purposes rather than retail etc., Regardless?!!?!? As mentioned earlier various landmark buildings in Downtown Edmonds today date back centuries...actually older than many recent structures actually!!!

Edmonds was founded in 1887 as a logging community on the eastern edge of what is now Queen Anne's Island. It became an agricultural center after timber prices began to rise in the 1890s and by 1912 had a population of 592. In 1916, Edmonds was chosen as the site for a new Seattle–Tacoma airport; it remains one of the most important commercial and transportation hubs in Northwest America today. The city of Edmonds received its name from Charles Edwin (ed)mond, who donated land to create the town on which it stands and whose family has lived there since 1887. The first post office opened in 1893, and within two years had outgrown its original building on Second Avenue NE. A second post office was built on Third Avenue NE in 1895; this too failed to prosper because no one wanted to deliver mail across mud flats located between Second and Third Avenues NE. A new post office was built on First Avenue NE in 1897; this also failed to thrive because no one wanted to deliver mail across mud flats located between Second and First Avenues NE. In 1907, lumbering magnate George Norris put up $1 million toward creating what would become known as “Norris Park”—a tract of land along Puget Sound extending from Edmonds eastward for miles (and including present day Issaquah). With that donation came both access to property rich with resources (including coal reserves) and an opportunity for entrepreneurs like Norris himself to develop his holdings into something more than just forestry camps housing loggers and their families: he sawed down trees at night so that other people could build homes near him while he slept! erton Norris died suddenly only weeks before construction began on his dream home village—norrisdale would remain open only during business hours under strict rules limiting overnight visitation by anyone other than those working directly for Mr. Norris! His widow managed North Ridge Lumber Company until her death in 1951; subsequent management passed through her children until it finally vested with friends John Hargrave Sr., John Hargrave Jr., Charles Jorgenson, Donald Trumpetter & Associates Inc., during 1988 when they purchased it from them cashed out all outstanding stock options! From then until 1984 North Ridge Village Association operated everything but lights/theatre/parking garage/cafeteria etc.—all run independently without parental consent except for special events such as choir performances or carnivals! Every year starting in late fall local citizens gather wood off state forest roads around town dumpster fires creating an annual festive event complete with live music & food
