Edmonds is a small town in King County, Washington, United States. It is located on the left bank of the Columbia River and has a population of about 2,500. The area where Edmonds now stands was first settled by pioneers in 1854. The community was named for Augustus C. Edmond, an early settler. The initial settlers were farmers who grew corn and wheat. They also raised hogs and chickens. In 1885, the railroad arrived in Edmonds and started serving the community as well as other nearby towns like Seattle. This made life much easier for the farmers who could now sell their goods directly to commuters arriving at Seattle’s train stations. In 1907, when Congress passed the General Mining Act, it opened up new lands near Edmonds which became known as “The Gables” because of the high-quality coal that had been discovered there. This gave rise to one of the most important industries in town – coal mining – which continued until World War II when Allied forces destroyed all of Japan’s remaining mines within sight of Edmonds residents (a fact that helped contribute to its nickname of “coaltown”). Today, Edmonds is home to a variety of businesses including several restaurants and bars along with a couple dozen stores and businesses providing services such as mechanics or lawn care services. It also features two parks – one adjacent to Interstate 5 and another just off Highway 99/Vista Link Road across from Interstate 5E). There are also several cultural attractions located throughout town such as The Everett Art Gallery which features local artists every week during summertime; John Lennon's former childhood home; and Crafton Park which provides year-round access to baseball diamonds (including one built specifically for Little League), soccer fields (including two regulation size lacrosse fields), basketball courts, fitness facilities (including an indoor pool), drive-through windows for fast food restaurants (!), dog training equipment - both professional and recreational - as well as many other types of retail options available on any given day!

Edmonds, Washington is a small town in southern King County, Washington, United States. The population was 569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. Edmonds was founded as an agricultural community by farmers in 1881. The first post office opened in 1883 and the town became a village in 1907. In 1959 it became a city and has since grown to become one of the most populous communities in King County with over 11,000 residents. The name "Edmonds" comes from two earlier settlements—the English word "Edeham" meaning "a meadow", and the French word "Hedmonde" meaning "hillock". The name originated because of its location on high ground overlooking Puget Sound and Lake Washington. The Edmonds Post Office was located at 116th Street NW (now 98th Avenue NE) until 1959 when it moved to its current location at SW 120th Street NE. The first settler in what would become Edmonds was John Aiken who arrived on July 10, 1881 from Aberdeen, Scotland via Tacoma Landing on Discovery Bay with his family and five cows/horses. He cultivated corn, beans, peas and other early crops on land he had purchased from George Dalleskirk about eight miles north of present day Edmonds along State Route 206A (along today's 108th Avenue NE). Aiken named his new land around Sibley Mountain after General Earl Sibley who had stopped by his farm while traveling through central WA during late summer 1879 or early fall 1880 en route to visit Yakima tribe members near Gig Harbor where he had been assigned as US Military scout duty under Captain Samuel Goudreau for 1st BattalionRR Militia Regiment #2 commanded by Major James Hutton Whitehead Jr.. General Sibley visited Aiken's farm 2 days later on October 14th or 15th1881 while he camped at Salmon Falls (near present day Snoqualmie) east of Goldendale on the Colville River before continuing southwesterly to Olympia Fields where he inspected military forces assembling there for maneuvers scheduled for December 4-7 that year near present day Woodinville...
