By 1903, there was a new type of hard case that was developed called the "Soft Gun Case." This type of case had an inner fabric cover that could be closed using either straps or clips. It was used for handguns that were not too large or heavy to carry in a hard casing. In 1916, the first soft case company in East Wenatchee was founded by Wm. H. Smith and brothers Harry and Edwin Jenson. They started making cases out of 100% plastic material which became very popular because it did not break down over time like other materials. In 1951, the Eastern Softgun Company began manufacturing pistols with metal frames and doors instead of leather or canvas covers. The company continued to produce these types of firearms until 1984 when they merged with two other companies to form the current company name: Eastern Guns & Ammo Incorporated (EG&A). East Wenatchee is a small town in the Yakima Valley of Washington. The population was 1,542 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wenatchee-King county seat. The community takes its name from the east fork of the Wenatchee River which flows through it. The first Europeans to visit East Wenatchee were fur traders and missionaries who came via Oregon in 1855. They founded Fort Lawley on an island in the river and named it after Sir John A. Macdonald, Prime Minister of Canada at the time. The first white settlers arrived in 1858 when George Armstrong Custer, officer with General George Custer's army, set out from Cache Valley for what he thought would be a buffalo hunt near present-day East Wenatchee. He and his squadron encountered Indian resistance and only returned safely to base after hours of campaigning on February 14th, 1859. In 1862, East Wenatchee became part of Washburn County when that area was divided between Kittitas and King counties. In 1871, easternmost portion of King County (including present day East Wenatchee) was annexed by Seattle as part of a larger effort to increase city limits along Lake Union Boulevard During World War II, Japanese American Citizens League member Yahiro Matsuda served as mayor from 1942-1945 On November 3rd 2006 voters approve Measure N which creates an east side zoning district for businesses located within 5 blocks of I-5 Exit 263/264 near milepost 12 on Interstate 5A within 2 miles of both Eastern Washington University & Eastern Washington High School Voter turnout was 79% In fall 2007 East Wenatchee residents voted overwhelmingly to annex much southernmost tip (northwest corner) orchard belonging to Soquimbo Orchards Incorporated which produces about 60%of all their produce for their stores & restaurant in KING county

East Wenatchee, Washington is a small town located in the east-central portion of the U.S. state of Washington. The population was 2,634 at the 2010 census. The name "Wenatchee" is derived from the Salish word wenatchee meaning "river mouth." It is said that early settlers named this place due to its appearance on mapping as an open stretch of water with low hills adjacent to it. In 1855, East Wenatchee became part of Seattle and did not receive its own post office until 1896. The community's history begins with two log cabins constructed by pioneers in 1855 near what is now East Wenatchee High School. These were used as summer homes for members of the local resistance movement against Fort Snelling's attempted occupation of Northwest Territory in 1854-1855. One group of these pioneer settlers organized themselves into a town government and purchased twoADDITIONAL LOG CABINES FOR USE AS A PUBLIC SCHOOL IN EAST WENATCHEE FROM DAVID SULLIVAN OF SEATTLE FOR $3 PER YEAR IN 1861; THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT A TOWN GOVERNMENT WAS CREATED IN WENATCHEE AND IT WAS SUCH A MAJOR EVENT THAT THE NAME ELSEWHERE ON STREET HAS BEEN MISTAKEN FOR FUTURE TOWARDSST HISTORY - EDWARD MCCAGGINS In 1865, East Wenatchee voters approved a town charter which granted them self-government under the jurisdiction of Seattle (then King County). This was also when construction began on what would become East Wenatchee High School, which opened its doors to students in fall 1866. It was through this school that many residents learned about their new hometown and started making connections with one another throughout their lives there. With time, development within thecommunity continued to grow and improve upon those pioneer buildings including becoming home to a Post Office (1906), lumberyard (1910), fire station (1912), police station (1964), health clinic (1970), and numerous other businesses over the years. Today, East Wenatchee remains an thriving community full of culture, commerce and excitement!
The first people to live in the area were the Wenatchee People. The first white person to live in East Wenatchee was John McLaughlin in 1876.
