In the early 1900s, the people of East Wenatchee were working to build a new community. They started by purchasing land and creating a mill. They then began building homes, churches and stores. By the 1930s, they had built enough homes to create a town and named it East Wenatchee after their home country of Wenatchee, Washington. Throughout the years, East Wenatchee has grown and changed with the needs of its residents. In the 1990s, they adopted an ordinance that prohibited discrimination in housing based on race or national origin. In 2002, they established themselves as one of the most welcoming towns in central Washington when they passed an ordinance prohibiting discrimination in all areas including employment, education and credit cards. Today, East Wenatchee is known for its friendly citizens and great shopping options. They have a variety of businesses from restaurants to clothing retailers. In 1919, the East Wenatchee Improvement Association was formed to improve the town. In 1928, the first electric streetlights were installed in East Wenatchee. In 1933, a water tower was built and in 1934, a power plant was constructed. The East Wenatchee School District was formed in 1938.
East Wenatchee, located in the high desert of western Washington, is a small town with a large and diverse population. The town is home to over 1,000 people and spans several blocks on the main street. The buildings are all brick or wood frame with simple architecture. In 1883, the name "Wenatchee" was given to the town by George Fenton who saw it as a desirable place to live because there were no other settlements around. By 1912, when East Wenatchee incorporated as a village, it had grown to over 350 people and included six schools (two grade levels) and two churches. During World War II, many refugees from Hiroshima settled in eastern Washington near Red Lake before moving west into the area now known as East Wenatchee. After the war ended, many families returned home while others took up residence in other parts of Western Washington until 1949 when WENATCHEE COMMUNITY COLONY was established at what is now Eastern Avenue between Central Avenue and State Route 522 south of Seattle. At its peak membership numbered 2200 civilians with three stores (one grocery store), eighty-six residences (twenty-four single family homes), twelve businesses (four restaurants/cafés/bars/theaters), four churches (one Methodist Episcopal Church and four Presbyterians), sixteen public works crews (five firefighting teams), thirty-eight school children employed by private enterprises such as agriculture or logging camps during summer months, eleven military personnel stationed at Fort Steilacoom on Anacortes Island for training purposes only On January 1st 1959 WENATCHEE COMMUNITY COLONY changed its name to "East WenatcheE" after incorporation into King County which became an open enrollment countywide community services program administered by King County Community Services Administration . At its peak membership number 3100 civilians lived in ninety sites distributed throughout King County with twenty thousand square feet each

East Wenatchee, Washington is a small town located in Kitsap County, Washington. The population was 6,441 at the 2010 census. The name of the town originated from the fact that it sits near the East Wenatchee Fault Zone which has generated a large amount of earthquake activity in recent years. The first settler in East Wenatchee was James Fenton and his family who arrived in 1881. Since then the town has undergone several growth spurts with its current size. The first school in East Wenatchee was built in 1892 and served as a middle school until 1912 when it became an high school. In 1954, the zip code for East Wenatchee changed to 98133 after becoming part of King County and Wanneroo became its official name (although residents still refer to themselves as "East Wenatchee"). During World War II, many people from East Wenatchee enlisted and helped contribute to the war effort. Many businesses were established during this time including Pacific Gas & Electric Company which now operates as part of Amazon Web Services and Eastern Airlines which operated between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Kenmore AFB before merging with Alaska Airlines. Some of these businesses continue to operate today such as PG&E company headquarters which is now inside Bellingham Municipal Airport; Eastern Airlines hangar #2 which is currently being used by Boeing Co.; KOMO-TV studios on First Street NE; Puyallup Tribal Nation Headquarters on 10th Avenue NE; Spokane Veterans Affairs Medical Center on Third Street NW; Japanese American Citizens Defense League - Japanese American Branch Office on Capitol Hill Way NW; Northwest Fisheries Science Center on 25th Avenue SW; Mount Baker Ski Resort east side main lodge near ski slopes . In recent years there have been some negative aspects associated with growth such as increased traffic congestion caused by new development along Interstate 5 or increasing crime rates due to an increase number of immigrants coming into town for work orstudy purposes. However, overall, East Wenatchee has experienced significant progress over the past few decades making it one of the fastest growing towns in Western Washington
The town of Wenatchee was first settled in 1873 by German immigrants. The name Wenatchee originated from the Yakima language word "wenatchee," meaning "river at the edge of a wood." In 1907, Wenatchee became the capital of the newly created state of Washington.
