Today, East Wenatchee is an incredibly vibrant community with plenty going on both inside and outside its borders- something that’s made all the more incredible by how close it is to so much great infrastructure including hospitals, schools, shopping malls and airports! The area now known as Wenatchee was first populated by the Timbuktu people. The town of Wenatchee was founded in 1855 by businessmen from Seattle, Washington Territory. The town was originally named Post Falls, but the name was changed to Wenatchee in honor of Gen. George Armstrong Custer during the Civil War. In 1865, Wenatchee became the capital of the new Northwest Territories and remained so until it was transferred to Spokane in 1898.
