The history of firearms in Covington, Washington goes back to the early 1800s. The area was home to a number of Native American tribes, and hunting and fishing were some of the main activities pursued by these people. As the land around Covington became more developed, farmers began moving into the area and started engaging in agricultural pursuits. Eventually, there were enough people living in Covington to form a town government. In 1853, Covington was incorporated as a village within King County. In 1892, it became part of Seattle metropolitan area. In 1957, it reverted back to its original name of Covington.
Covington, Washington is a small town in the Yakima County of Washington, United States. The population was 1,859 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. Covington is located on Interstate 5 and U.S. Route 99A (Oklahoma Street). The first settlers in what would become Covington were Reuben and Laban Jeffries who Clear Creek Ranch was sold to them in 1855. In 1865, John Aitken purchased Clear Creek Ranch from the Jeffries family and founded Aitken Farms near present day Covington High School which he named after his father-in-law, Reverend James Hodge Sr.. The name “Aitken” has been spelled many different ways over time but the most predominant spelling today is Aiken which originated from this early settler’s choice for a local landmark name. In 1892, Jethro Sullivant bought Clear Creek Ranch from John Aitken and renamed it Sullivant Farms after his brother Jethro’s wife Sarah (née Hawley) Sullivant. Msgr Hodge had also originally given her husband's farm to him as a wedding present back in 1865 when they married; however she later donated it back to him following his death in 1902). The farm continued to be run by Mrs. Hodge until her death in 1966 when it passed through her son George's hands who then deeded it to their grandson Michael Ritchie Jr.. Mr. Ritchie has since completely renovated and operated the property as an agricultural research center with primary emphasis on corn production since 1993 called "Michael Ritchie Corn Research Center". The first post office opened at Covington on October 6th, 1887 under the name "Pleasant Valley". The current post office building was built in 1910 and replaced an earlier structure that was destroyed by fire two years prior. It was not until 1896 that clear creek could be found written on USGS map near its intersection with Indianola Road - this location would come into use as Covington proper around 1930 when new land around it became available for development according to plans developed by local banker Fanny Granger Dodge & Company… In 1932 residents voted 3-1 against annexation into Thurston County because they felt that Thurston County lacked enough services such as schools or business opportunities like those offered by neighboring King County…" Today there are few buildings remaining from pioneer days such as Schools – c1900 only 2 students attending school including one gradeschool pupils mother teaching out of home Pupils currently attend nearby Tacoma public schools Community Center – original building burned down 1916 w/ all contents lost Farm Buildings still standing but much modified circa1960 house now used for storage Narrow road leads up driveway past farm buildings arriving at main front door now open facing onto highway

Covington was founded in 1853 by Zenas Covington and his wife, Chloe. The town was named after the Battle of Bunker Hill, which took place on April 19, 1775. The first post office was established in 1854. In 1861, the town was incorporated as a village. In 1916, the town became a city. Covington is located at the junction of State Route 5 and Interstate 90. It has a population of over 12,000 people and is home to numerous businesses and restaurants including Best Western Plus Embassy Suites hotel.
The city of Covington was founded on the Susquehanna River in 1788 by Captain John Stevens. The city grew rapidly, and in 1892 it became a county seat. In 1907, Covington became part of the Washington Territory and was named after President George Washington.
