It closed for lack of students in 1888 but reopened that year with classes from 9:00 A.M.–3:30 P.M.. In 1907 Ethel Matson donated land to build a high school which became known as "Covington High" or simply "Cov."In 1951 when Wenatchee annexed Cov, it changed its name to Wenatchee– Tri-City Schools District No. 2 which lasted until 1987 when Wenatchee annexing again made Cov again an unincorporated community within Okanogan County under district jurisdiction with no local schools
