From 1989 through 1993, Cheney was chairman and CEO of Halliburton Company; during this time period, Halliburton won major contracts with both military and nonmilitary clients across many countries including Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Colombia.[1] After serving two terms as Chairman/CEO (2001-2007) of Halliburton Company—a company that had been sued more than any other U.S.-based company—Cheney was elected Vice President on December 4th 2007 byPDF ballot cast by members of the Electoral College following their vote on November 3rd which sent George W Bush into office instead of Al Gore[2]. On January 20th 2009 Dick Cheney announced his candidacy for re-election to a third term as President pro tempore over John McCain who had announced his candidacy two days earlier[3].
