Centralia, Washington is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,883 at the 2010 census. Centralia is the county seat of King County and it is part of the Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. The first white people to live in Centralia were two brothers who settled there in 1887. They named their community "Centralia" after the central square of Athens, Greece. The first post office was established in 1889 and was located on Main Street. It served as the headquarters for both King County and Territorial governments from then until 1907 when it moved to its current location on First Avenue North. In 1906, Centralia became a city with a population of 25,000 people when it annexed areas of Seattle south of Elliott Bay on land that had been donated by Moses Lake and others in what is now Pioneer Square. In 1963, Mayor Norm Coleman proposed annexing portions of Seattle to create an even larger city with an estimated population over 100,000 people which would have included Centralia but no action was taken because Mayor Wes Anderson refused to allow annexation without voter approval through his proposal called "Annexation 2". In 2000 voters passed a referendum asking Anderson if he would approve annexing Centralia into the new city should it be created as part of that plan or not; he said he would not because he felt that annexation could only happen through legislation approved by the Legislature which he did not feel comfortable doing given their lack thereof during his time as mayor). Many residents raised concerns about this potential annexation until 2003 when Human Resources Manager at Microsoft Corporation Rick Berman announced plans to move his company's operations from Bellevue (then northumberland) and open a new facility there which would employ 150 people directly and 3 hundred indirect jobs across several thousand employees statewide . This announcement quickly sparked anger throughout Centralia where many felt they had been left out in the proverbial “deal” . After much public outcry Microsoft pulled out of Bellevue altogether citing costs associated with building such large an operation within such tight fiscal restraints . In 2004 one local business owner put together some business cards reprinted from circa 1911 giving away free cups OF coffee every day until Microsoft vacated their building ..... This story has continued annually ever since with various businesses willing to contribute cups each week however no matter how many times they are offered they always decline due to cost prohibitively high postage rates

Centralia, Washington is a town in central Washington. The population of Centralia was 8,711 at the 2010 census, up from 7,521 at the 2000 census. The town is located in Whitman County and is part of the Wenatchee– Superior Metropolitan Statistical Area. Centralia was founded by Russian settlers in 1853. It became an incorporated town in 1907, and a city in 1959. The first European to visit what is now Centralia was Nicholas Klyuchevsky on October 26, 1833. He named it after his native land of Russia – Chernozerok (central), meaning "the center". A post office was established at Centralia on February 12, 1854. The first store opened at Centralia on July 1, 1855. In 1860 the first school opened for students grades one through twelve. In 1862 Union General Winfield Scott's army invaded and occupied Western Washington Territory; when he learned about this he ordered General John Custer to march against the forces of Indian Chief Washakie without orders from him or anyone else higher up! This event began what would be known as the Battle of Little Bighorn which ended with over 50% loss for both sides; including 23% killed by Indians and 54% captured by Americans! Afterward many people came to Centralia looking for their lost belongings that had been taken during the battle or left behind by those who had fought there. Many businesses were started here soon after such as a blacksmith shop, bakery and wagon workshop all owned by German immigrants Eli Blankenburg/ August Hesslein until they sold everything they had to go back home during World War II because they could not support themselves living in America anymore due to regulations set forth during that time period known as “The Great Depression” which affected everyone regardless of race or religion! On September 16th 1861 Congressman George Atlee introduced HJR 527 calling for Congress to "establish a Government so eminently fitted for our present needs" giving thanks specifically to President Abraham Lincoln once again who had helped thousands more immigrants come into America since his inauguration four years earlier!!! After much discussion it passed unanimously Ways & Means Committee then went onto its second reading before being referred back to Rules Committee where it died due primarily because some members did not want any government development within their own backyard!!! Unfortunately this legislation never made it out of committee alive but thankfully we have today’s Republic with laws written specifically for us citizens instead thereof!! Although having little success initially most American towns like Centralia eventually got recognition from other communities throughout Wenatchee Valley as well as outside organizations such as US Post Office Department officials visiting often causing great change & growth over time!
