The Camas Valley is rich in history. The valley was first inhabited by the Wenatchee people and later, the Tolovvies. The first white man to come to the area was Captain George Vancouver who discovered and named the valley in 1792. The early explorers brought with them guns and ammunition which helped make this region a hot spot for exploration. In 1853, a group of women set out on a wagon journey from Olympia to find a new home for their children. They were the first American women to travel through what is now Camas Valley. When they arrived at the present day town of Camas, they founded an agricultural colony called “The Ladies Colony” which lasted until 1918. In 1886, local farmers started making cheese from milk that they produced from their cows and sheep in their fields near today’s Camas High School campus. This process led to today’s Camas cheese industry which has been around since 1915! The early days of soft gun production in Camas were challenging but fun! Camas, Washington is a town in Yakima County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Yakima-Washougal area. The first European to visit what is now Camas was French fur trader François de la Croix in 1792. He named it "Mt. Hood" after Mount Hood in Oregon and Discovery Bay on the Columbia River because he thought the location would offer good hunting grounds for game. In 1811, Russian traders discovered land north of the current town when they sailed upriver from Russia on their way to Gold Rush Mines near present day Seattle. They called this new land "Camas." The official name given to the town by federal officials was Yakima Indian Agency (now Yakima Valley Regional District) until 1827 when it became part of the newly created Yakima County. The first settlers were members of The Dalles Tribe who arrived around 1825 fromOregon under Chief Kamehameha I's orders to clear and farm the area which had been leased from native people by James Fenton and others during Puget Sound Treaty #2 negotiations in 1819-20. After many years of hard work and struggling against Native American resistance, including raids by1838 band led by Chief Sekakapuskaw as well as forced relocation due toChief Joseph Bonney's capture at Battle Of La Push (December 14th), most of these early farmers eventually received immunity under Treaty 7 signed December 12th1850 between Great Britain and Washington following its war with France over control of Northwest America issues such as rivers flow rates etc.# . After World War II thousands more families moved into Camas after job opportunities opened up in Boeing plant south Tacoma while other local industries closed down throughout much of North America due to deindustrialization# . Today Camas is a thriving community with many businesses including 3 hospitals, 2 schools & 2 shopping malls

In 1828, when land west ofSeattle became available for purchase, some local men decided to settle there instead. They named their new town Camas after one of their leaders, Salmon PellyCamus. Most people here continued to speak English until about 1840 when they started to learn Spanish as well. During this time period, white settlers began moving into what is now Camas and other parts of Washington state. Some were farmers who bought land from the Indian populations; others were miners who dug coal and silver mines in nearby mountainsides. In 1850, when Oregon became a state, Camas merged with Whitman County (now Clark County) to form Washington Territory (later Territorial District). One reason why CAMAS developed slowly compared to other parts of Washington during this time is that there was no organized government at that point; it functioned largely through treaties and agreements between different groups of people living in what is todayWashington state. This lack of authority also made it difficult for whites to establish themselves permanently in any given place without help from Native Americans or others."

As of 2000, Camas was the fastest growing city in Washington. The population had grown by 23% between 1990 and 2000, making it one of the fastest-growing cities in the state. The growth is part of a larger trend across Washington of higher population densities, which has led to more jobs and an increase in economic activity.
