In 1923, a group of businessmen formed the Camas Municipal Utility District to provide public services such as water, sewer, and electric service. In 1944, The Seattle Times ran an article about the development of a new type of contact lens that would reduce eye fatigue. This innovation was named “Camas Contact Lens” after the town in which it was developed. By 1951, all schools in Camas had been converted to electronic reading devices and optical supplies began becoming more popular. By 1960, over one hundred businesses had adopted Optical Supply Coated Glasses (OSCG) for their products because of their scratch-resistant quality and affordable price point. However, by 1974 there were only six companies manufacturing OSCG lenses in Camas; however this number has since increased to over thirty manufacturers today due to OCG's popularity among consumers across America! Throughout its history OCG has been at the forefront of developing innovative technological advancements forocular products - from providing dust coverings for firearms to creating easier lens cleaning solutions - but also has support from local communities who have relied on their products for generations. Camas is a town in Walla Walla County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,879 at the 2010 census. Camas became a town on December 12, 1907. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Camas was John Troup who arrived in 1878 and platted the land around what is now downtown Camas. In 1912, Everett Hargrave donated 103 acres (40 ha) of land to the Town of Camas for use as an Agricultural School Campus. The school operated from 1914-1921 before becoming anAdult daycare center from 1921-1983 known as Carefree Daycare until it closed its doors in 1983 due to budget cuts by then-Mayor Don Simpson Sr.. The town's only store opened in 1922 and continued to serve residents until 1971 when it closed its doors again due to lack of businessability. In 1984, the Seattle Chamber of Commerce purchased the store and reopened it as "Seattle's First Place for Shopping." In 1990, efforts were made by then- Mayor Don Simpson Jr., Tacoma Mayor Norm Coleman and others within city government to revive CAMAS through legislation that would have created a new town center with a library/cafeteria/marketplace complex on 100 acres (40 ha), extending eastward into what was once part of Everett Hargrave's Agricultural Campus property; however no action was taken because there were few if any citizens willing or able to donate land or create an economic base for CAMAS outside of city government services which could not be efficiently provided without taxpayer dollars. On December 12th 2007 CAMAS officially became a town after being accepted into Walla Walla County government through annexation proceedings following approval from the county board of commissioners. Camas has experienced some growth over time including development along Interstate 5 near Interstate 5 Bridge Road and across False Creek just north of I-5 southbound exit 191A which will house several restaurants/bars etc.; additional development taking place near State Route 99E between State Route 520 and Interstate 5 also providing access to I-5; high density housing developments such as Regency Village located along SR 99E adjacent to CenturyLink Field; numerous small businesses are growing rapidly such as cafe/bakery restaurants such as Sloppy Joe's Café & Bakery adjacent to Lowe’s Hardware Store adjacent to Northwest Community College; camazone places like King Solomon’s restaurant next door ToeJammer Pizza located right off I‐5 Exit 191A opposite Safeway grocery store - these types of businesses provide employment opportunities for local citizens during off hours not available during regular business hours

Camas is a culturally rich community that has played a significant role in American history. The first Europeans to visit Camas were Russian fur traders who arrived in 1792. By 1800, there were several villages in the area, but only Camas developed as a settlement. It was named for Captain John Camus, who commanded an expedition to explore the region in 1802-03. In 1805–06 Governor Isaac Stevens erected a ferry across the river at this location for travelers coming from Oregon or California. This facility served as a crossing until 1865 when Interstate 5 was built and replaced it with a new bridge across the river. During World War II,Camas played an important role as both a militarybase and airfield on Pacific coast of America . In 1944, after years of planning and construction work by many individuals and organizations,the city hosted its first municipal election which resulted in victory for Mayor Byron Crouch over incumbent Republican majority leader Ethel Merman-Lingridge
Camas is located in Western Washington, adjacent to the states of Oregon and Idaho. The community was founded on July 6, 1892, by farmers from British Columbia and Canada looking for a new home after the Gold Rush ending in 1848. The town grew rapidly due to its location along the Snake River, which provided easy access to irrigation water for agriculture. There were also many mills in the area that produced goods such as flour, cloth, shoes and lumber. In 1916, Camas became the first town in Washington state to become a city with an elected mayor. In 1954, it merged with neighboring Twin Falls to form Camas-Twin Falls. As of 2019, Camas has a population of over 10,000 people living within its borders.
