Moses Lake was first inhabited by indigenous people who hunted game in what is now central King County. The first white person to reside in what is nowCamas arrived around 1855, when John Workman settled near present-day Whitman Falls. Workman built a cabin and ran a mill which he later sold to David Stuart. In 1859, workmen associated with Edward Forbes built a log cabin on land that became modern day Eatonville. This area would become known as Forbes Heights afterDavid Stuart's son-in-law, George Eaton Sr., developed it into an agricultural village named for him in 1865. In 1881, local farmers began raising hay for livestock on what became Camas Meadows today. A post office was established at Eatonville in 1886, and by 1912 there were six families living there; two were teachers employed by Central School District #3 (later renamed Western Washington University). By 1918 only one family remained; this was replaced by the current community during World War II when many camels were brought into service along with other goods available from Seattle's wartime supplies dumprigs at Duwamish Bay Naval Base just outside Olympia city limits

Camas is a small town in the state of Washington, United States. The population was 1,836 at the 2000 census. Camas is located on the eastern border of Thurston County and Fraser County. It is bordered by the towns of Soap Lake to the east and North Bend to the north. The Camas River forms its southern border. The community was named for Captain John Camus, an American Revolutionary War veteran who served as a military chaplain with the British army during the war. The area that now makes up Camas began as part of what is now Thurston County. In 1847, landowner Captain Johncamus donated 352 acres (132 hectares) to build a town in what is today Camas Township. He named it after himself and his brother-in-law, General George Campbell, who had also given generously to various causes in Thurston County. On December 15, 1849, when King George III granted citizenship to Washington residents over those living in Oregon Territory,Camas became one of those communities designated for inclusion within the new state government. The first post office opened in 1851, and two years later saw incorporation of what are today Fraser and Soap Lakes townships into Camas Township; these were both incorporated as villages on April 14th 1861 under then-Mayor Charles Hargrave’s leadership following a referendum vote by township trustees. In 1865 local builder Asahel Aitken laid out present day downtown streets which follow Ferry Road from south to north while remaining parallel with First Street until they intersected Duck Creek Drive just northeast of Main Street near CAMAS High School today’s ZIP code 88027 This street grid remains intact to this day although most blocks have been replaced by newer development since then including CAMAS Stadium across Ferry Rd from old downtown core where stadium & library currently stand
