Camas is a small town in Washington State, located on the eastern border of the US state of Oregon. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. Camas is one of the oldest towns in Washington and has been inhabited by humans for over 3,000 years. It was founded in 1853 by John Wesley Powell as an agricultural village on the banks of the Snake River. The name comes from Chief camas, a local Sasquatch who may have been responsible for naming the river after himself. In 1855, when Seattle was founded, Camas became its first incorporated community. Today there are only a few remaining businesses inCamas- most are clustered around Main Street which runs along the Snake River. The history of Camas is intertwined with that of Oregon itself- both were part of California until they were acquired by Oregon in 1859 during the Mexican–American War. During this time much fighting took place between American and Mexican forces as both sides sought to control what had become their new southern section of America. After California joined Mexico (under Emperor Maximilian) in 1862,camas became an important center due to its location halfway between these two countries and because it served as a stop on Union Pacific Railroad's survey route across western North America linking east coast ports with western points such as Denver and Sacramento. Oregon Territory was formed following the US Civil War and included all present day Washington except for parts of Idaho and Montana which remained within United States territory until 1959. On July 16th, 1860 James Kippoway sold 8 acres near what is now downtown Camas to General Gideon Welles for $10 per acre plus costs associated with land purchase including planting trees and fencing off . This parcel would eventually become known as Welles Field or simply Welles Road where today’s First Baptist Church stands - providing testimony to how important this region felt during early Oregon history In 1863 Columbia University graduate Benjamin Fenton bought 5 acres northwest of present day downtown Camas from Ephraim Harriman which he used as his farmstead until his death in 1899 In 1870 Captain George Vancouver explored Puget Sound while exploring northwest Alaska; he reported finding “a great bayou [sic] called Yamhill” lying west-northwest of Heceta Island just beyond Point Defiance Sound On December 14th 1865 about 60 men led by Major George Armstrong arrived at Fort Hall under command of Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Morse after being sent out from Portland by General Douglas MacArthur on October 15th 1865 looking for Indian traders working along Umatilla River By December 21st 1865 all troops had withdrawn leaving 400 horses behind at Fort Hall; however no Indians were found Captain George Vancouver's exploration helped lay groundwork for establishmentof ruleof law throughout most southwestern Northwest Territories subsequent annexation into Canada

As such, many people turned away from loading their own Ammunition and instead relied on government stockpiles or companies like Winchester who offered competitive prices for quality rounds at various points throughout history.
