In 1984, The Rifleman Magazine commenced publication in Burien and it continues to this day. It is considered one of the most influential publications within the city because it provides information about rifles and shooting techniques along with classified articles on specific rifle models. In 1988, Northwest Shooting Supply Company relocated from its original location on First Avenue to its current location on Fourth Avenue which made it easier for customers to find high-quality firearm supplies without having to search through numerous stores around town. As soon as theaters began closed down for prohibition purposes, magicians started carrying unloaded guns into these venues in order to sell their tricks to customers who had no choice but to comply with this draconian law. The Second Amendment of the Constitution protects Americans’ right to bear arms. This amendment states: “the right of citizens of the United States…to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed”. In 1907, rifle magazines became legal for civilians within fifty miles of a federal building without prior consent from authorities. Gun magazines continued to play an important role in American life until well after World War II when they slowly went out of fashion due largely to concerns over firearm accidents and handgun crime

They were followed by other vessels until January 1893 when land grants were awarded to J.W.B., Wm Henson and Fenton Willcox for an area that included present day Burien, Evergreen Park and Mountlake Terrace On July 20, 1893 USGS surveyor George Prentice laid out a townsite called "Burien" on what is now northwest corner of First Avenue South and Northeast Seventh Street in Evergreen Park as part of a larger survey for Puget Sound country including Seattle and Bellevue In 1907, real estate developer Jock Simmons subdivided "Burien" into lots for sale to farmers and builders who had leased rights from pioneer proprietors In 1928 burien's first movie theater opened as The Majestic Cinema on SW First Avenue which continued operation until it burned down in 1984 In 1951 construction began on Stemmons Freeway which ran through downtown Burien before splitting off to form I-5 southbound near SeaTac Airport A new football stadium was built adjacent to CenturyLink Field (now Seahawks Stadium) during the 1990s which hosted both American Legion games played there as well as UW Husky football games against Oregon State University The city also constructed two parks: One east of Interstate 5 along First Avenue South between Sibley Boulevard and Union Station Way while another west of I-5 between NE 84th Street North and SE 98th Street North near CenturyLink Field The current city government was created when City Councilmember Donny Kornbluh took office following the November 3rd election without having been elected previously . Kornbluh served until he left office on May 14th 2013 after being indicted for bribery charges relating to his job with an energy company
The city of Burien was founded on December 3, 1865 by pioneers from the town of Kennewick. The first settlers arrived in a small boat and set up a homestead on the mudflats that now make up the northwest side of Issaquah Creek. They started a logging business andestablished a mill that processed lumber brought overland over the Cascades by wagon trains. In 1875, Burien became an incorporated municipality. Burien played an important role in World War II as it served as an airfield for the United States Army Air Forces during the war. After hostilities ended, Burien resumed its growth as a center for government and commercial activity. The population reached 100,000 by 1970, but declined to 80,000 by 2000 due to migration and other economic factors. The current population is 56,000.
