Bothell is a small town in central Washington, United States. The population was 5,563 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. Bothell is located on the east side of Lake Washington and has a mix of agricultural and urban land uses. The city was founded in 1872 by pioneer farmers and lumbermen from southern Sweden and Norway. The first humans to live in what is now Bothell arrived about 11,000 years ago when Paleo-Indians began an exploratory journey through what is now King County. Two villages were established near present day Bothell – White Earth Village and Nanette Lakeshore – around 1000 BC. By AD 100, some 10 families lived there permanently while others transiently visited for several years each year. Nanette Lakeshore changed its name to Bothell in 1872 when it became known as the site of one of four townships created within King County by then-County Superintendent Julius Sahlgrensmark for Swedish immigrants who had settled there during the gold rush period (1858-64). At that time all but two residents were Swedes with no connection to any other community in the county except for White Earth which was their original home village. Only one other township, Newcastle upon Tyne Township on Puget Sound had been established at that time and only a few hundred settlers lived within its boundaries; most resided outside of King County altogether. In 1870 Dutchman Joris van der Waal sold his interest in White Earth to Sahlgrensmark for $2,500 cash plus 400 acres (1 km²) surrounding present day Bothell Reserveominium development where he built a farmstead called “Buitenhuis” (later renamed “ Van der Waal”). This purchase made bothell joins with Newcastle uponTyne Township as one large municipality within King County’s borders after over 130 years since its establishment! To this day many people remember Buitenhuis as their childhood home or summer place because it still stands today adjacent to Lake Washington through separate property ownership arrangements between both municipalities without having any impact on either them or their daily lives! In 1915 there were only 2 residents living in Bothell City Limits including Deputy Sheriff Harry Waugh who served Population Control Committee from 1914 until his retirement due to ill health on July 31st that year; these 2 residents did not own any property within city limits nor did they have any say whatsoever regarding city ordinances or services provided by City Manager Harry Waugh or Assistant City Manager John Pfeffer! In 1916 Village President Elias Fenton purchased 1 acre (0·38 ha) south of current day intersections 3rd Street Southwest & SW First Avenue from Mrs Cramer enroute to her new home near Interstate 5 where she would later become reelected As President Of Village Of Whiteearth after serving 3 terms starting October 15th 1916 thru December 15th 1916…. prior thereto she served 3 terms as Councilwoman For Townships 2nd Ward And North Shore On Kitsap Peninsula………..Prior thereto She also served 6 months term beginning November 1st 1913 thru March 14th 1914 As A Trustee For…WhiteEarthVillage Incorporated….During Her Term As trustee trustees met monthly twice monthly…..From October 15th 1916 thru December 15th 1916 She also chaired committee called The Citizens Union Which consisted Of Elders Abraham Hesseltine From Snohomish Co., George Daly From Everett Co., Charles Smith From Lynnwood Wa., Charley Allred From Issaquah WA And Fred Funkenstein An American Born German Citizen Who Came ToWashingtonToVote!. During That time They Also More Than Doubled Our Vote totals!!! Another Name That Was Used During That Time Was The League Of Democracy…..After Her Term As Trustee trustees ended She Kenney took Over reins mantle And Continued Serving AS Mayor Until January 1st 1917 When He Became Deputy Mayor Under Mayor Harry Waugh……..Since Then Mayor Has Been Mr Kenneth Schrader………….. One of the most important moments in its history came about seventy-six years ago when Bothell became the county seat of King County after being chosen as such by voters in a special election held atSeattle’s Union Station . Residents had long lobbied for this move as they saw Bellevue as too small and not up to meeting expectations for becoming an official county seat with its boasted infrastructure including a jail, courthouse, post office and school system. Following their selection as county seat, city officials decided to continue using Seattle’s Second Street artery instead of developing new roads which would have been necessary for moving personnel between both cities simultaneously – something which many thought would be impossible given KING’s size relative to other local jurisdictions within KING COUNTY! This decision helped spur development within Bothell itself with businesses popping up all around Second Street while also helping to promote trade along that corridor In spite of some challenges faced during its early days as a municipal entity (such as limited resources and low population), Bothell steadily grew through annexation by neighboring townships over time and today enjoys nearly contiguous territory stretching from Everett northward to Mount Vernon westward across Interstate 5 towards Spokane
