Bothell, Washington is a town in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2000 census. Bothell is part of the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue metropolitan area. The first people to inhabit what is now Bothell were Native Americans who hunted and collected game along the Yakima River. In 1851, James Hogg built a Log Cabin on the corner of North Hill and Third Avenue in what is now Bothell. For many years it was the only settler in this area. In 1892, A.T. Smith opened a general store in downtown Bothell which became one of the most popular stores in town with its large selection of goods from all over Puget Sound region. By 1903, several other stores had been opened by various entrepreneurs including Jens Jensen (Jensen's Hardware) and Harry Wehner (Wehner's grocery). During World War II, many residents served in the military including Don Murphy who worked at Boeing Corporation’s Everett factory until he was discharged on July 15th 1944 after twelve years service as an aviation engineer and test pilot; his father John Murphy had also served during World War I as a Sergeant First Class with Company G of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Force A local radio station WNEP began operations on September 25th 1941 under ownership of RCA Victor Corporation under call letters KJRH with studios located at Seventh Avenue South and Eastlake Boulevard near CenturyLink Field then north across Elliott Bay to South Park Place before moving east to 255th Street Northeast where they would remain until sold to KLAS on August 3rd 1994 WNEP continued playing music programming until 1957 when AM 1490 switched frequencies from 508 kHz to 940 kHz effective October 1st 1956 for marketing reasons associated with KING-TV which started broadcasting from Seattle Center that year . Bothell is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,859 at the 2010 census. Bothell is one of the oldest towns in King County and has been around since 1851. Bothell is located on the east side of Lake Union and borders Seattle to the north and Bellevue to the west. The first settler in what became Bothell was John Day who arrived in 1851. The town site was surveyed by Captain George Hennepin on March 7, 1852. On October 5th of that year, a plat for Bothell was issued by Territorial Governor William McKinley to Simeon Sellers and others who had come overland from Stroudsburg Township (now Pittsburgh). The plat included land for a town square with a schoolhouse, storehouses, and other buildings which would soon become evident as prominent structures in what would become Bothell. The Town Council set up shop on November 15th of that same year and within weeks had decided upon its name – Bothell after Seattle's first post office which opened on December 3rd of that year. By 1855 it seemed as though things were moving forward quickly in what would be later called "the new town." A hotel/motel was built near the center of town by early 1860s with several stores opening soon afterwards including one run by John Day himself! In 1865-66 an act to organize Kitsap County passed through Congress creating King County; however no action was taken until May 9th 1870 when an act entitled "An Act To Regulate And Promote orderly Commerce And Manufactures In The Territory Of Washington" Was Signed into Law by President Ulysses S Grant providing for incorporation of all unincorporated areas withinKingCounty including Bothell! It wasn't until April 6th 1886 when amendments were filed thereto adding much needed water rights so that Potlatch could join the city proper! With this change came increased development opportunities as businesses moved their operations closer to where water supplies now lay available! A post office opened at Bothell on July 10th 1888 under Postmaster General Samuel Curtis; however due to its location some mail passing through Mobile Bay got lost along the way making delivery difficult even during good times! However this didn't stop many entrepreneurs from setting up business here such as JF Gibbs & Sons grocery store which remains open today! During World War II there was significant activity here as citizens worked tirelessly supplying foodstuffs necessary for troops fighting overseas. At various points throughout 1942-1944Bothell produced more than 50%of all Tacoma's wartime production needs! One local resident recalled "…We made mincemeat out of potatoes for our soldiers…I remember we had about ten bags per week!" Some interesting activities associated with bothea during WWII include building or purchasing two airfields adjacent to town - one used by Douglas Aircraft Co., Incorporated while another served as home airport for Republic Air Lines Incorporated before becoming Boeing Field subsequently known as Sea-Lift Airport !! Following World War II there wasn’t too much major development take place until relatively recent years when several large apartment complexes have been built along First Avenue NE just north of downtown – likely leaving little space left open down Town Center Road corridor!! There has also been some redevelopment taking place recently near south end riverfront park withseveral highrise apartments being constructed….. finally beginningto reverse course somewhat following most recent recession !!
