In 1990, Winchester Incorporated merged with Texas Instruments to form Arthur Electric Corp., which remains an active component today within Arthur Electric Corp.–manufacturing rifles and shotguns as well as electronic components for various businesses around the world such as Philips Electronics NV and Siemens AG (Germany).
Bothell is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,514 at the 2010 census. Bothell is home to Microsoft's Redmond campus and the Bothell Institute of Technology.Bothell is named after George Washington Potts, who settled in what is now Bothell in 1851. The first post office in Bothell opened on December 22, 1851. In 1907, the name of the town was changed to Seattle after both cities were annexed by King County. The first settlers in what is now Bothell were farmers who arrived around 1851 from Ohio and Indiana. They founded a small community near present-day Seattle with 11 residents. The first school in Bothell was built in 1852 and served students from kindergarten through high school. In 1861, General John Averell Grant donated land for a public square near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and South Main Street; this square became known as Grant Park today. At that time it had a population of just over 100 people and consisted of only two blocks east of downtown Seattle – east side streets North Myrtle Avenue and Eastlake Avenue – plus an area south of First Avenue between Myrtle Avenue andEastlake Avenue which included parts of today’s Redmond neighborhood In 1916, when King County was formed following statehood within Washington, part of its territory lay north of Bellevue Heights (now Bellevue), including much of modern-day Bothell On January 1st 1915 Microsoft leased 5 acres at 425 Second Ave NE from J & C Cline Company for $6000/year with an option to purchase for $8000/year; this property became known as Redmond Campus Today In 1923 Microsoft moved its main office from Seattle to Redmond where it remains today King County voters passed a referendum on November 3rd 1922 authorizing annexation byKing County into whichBotchelidwasaddedonJanuary1st 1915 . On February 2nd 1923 incorporation provided for: “A city government having general jurisdiction over all inhabitants thereof subject to election by ballot … And further providing that said city shall be bounded on the north by Lake Union Boulevard extending southeastward thereto; on the west by Capitol Hill Boulevard extending northwestward thence; on the south by Center Street extending northeastward thence; on account thereof real estate situated within or contiguous with said limits will be sold at public sale at such times as may be determined by ordinance or resolution hereinof” This annexation resulted in large numbers of new citizens moving into what is now Botell
