Bonney Lake is a town in Grant County, Washington, United States. The population was 592 at the 2010 census. It is part of theSeattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. The community was platted in 1907 by J.C. Bonney and Wm. Ladd as an agricultural research station on the banks of the Bonney River. The name "Bonney" was given to the river because J.C.'s brother-in-law, James Bonney, had lost his family in a wagon accident near that location some years earlier. In 1915, local developer Harry Hecker built himself a home on land that he donated to the town as its first public building and also started construction of what would become Bonney Lake Elementary School and Community Center. In 1927, Hecker donated additional land for a new high school which opened in 1929 under then-town mayor George Kappenberger and current Town Manager Dick Hirschberg (now retired). Today's residents are made up of both American Indian tribal members from nearby Wasilla and Alaska Natives from around central Washington who have settled here since before European contact; as well as white working class citizens from Seattle who commute into town for work or recreational purposes; as well as a scattering of retirees among Native American tribe members who continue to live there despite various efforts by federal authorities over recent decades to evict them en masse

Bonney Lake is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,852 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of King County. The first settlers arrived in 1853 and started a farmstead on an island near present-day Bonney Lake. By 1860, the community had developed into a small town with a store and four churches. In 1883, the U.S. post office was established here and Growth continued until it reached its peak in 1925 when the population topped 2,000 people. The economy slowly declined throughout the 1930s and 1940s aspen forests were lost to logging; however, growth resumed after passage of the America First Act in 1945 which provided support for local industry. In 1990, after years of decline due to global recession and demographic changes, Bonney Lake experienced significant revitalization with new housing developments being built along Interstate 5 and new businesses opening up around school playgrounds and libraries. Today, Bonney Lake remains one of Washington's most vibrant communities with a strong sense of community spirit that has helped it remain one of the fastest growing cities in America over the past several decades
