Bonney Lake is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,924 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma Metropolitan Area. Bonney Lake is a small town located in Pierce County, Washington. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Spokane metropolitan area. The Bonney Lake Post Office opened in 1892 and closed in 2001. The first settler in what is now Bonney Lake was James A. Bonney who arrived with his family on July 5, 1859, from Hingham, Massachusetts. He and his wife Sarah set up a log cabin on the east side of present-day Bonney Lake Road. They had four children: James (1860-1936), John (1862-1945), Anna (1864-?), and Lillie (1866-?). In 1861, James A.bonney sold two acres of land to George Wightman for $200 dollars which he used as grazing land for his cow herd and later for raising chickens. After purchasing additional land from Wightman in 1865, James A. bonNEY built a house on what is today First Street about three miles west of present day Bonney Lake In 1870, George Fenton purchased one acre of land from James A. bonNEY for $50 dollars which he used as grazing land for his cows and later erected a farmstead thereon known as "Fenton's Landing". In 1871, Fenton married Sarah Tilden who also came to live in the village when it was founded; they had six children: Ada Maud (1872-1964), Flora Maynard (1875-1963), Everett Franklin Gentry(1877-1973), Helena Isabelle Fenton(1879-)and Ida Louise Tilden( 1880-.). When Addie died young at age sixteen she bequeathed her entire estate including all the real estate within the village boundaries to her sister Flora Maynard who conveyed it all back to Adaline Jane Tilden upon her death in 1964! During its early yearsBonney Lake experienced heavy timber traffic due to its location near logging roads throughout much of the early 20th century For many years post office services were provided by mail delivery from nearby Spokane until USPS took over operations here in 2001 . Mail service continued until 2007 when an Internet connection became available making emailing possible again Population growth has led to several businesses opening up around town such as tire store/repair shop , hardware store/store fronts etc., filling some gaps that were once filled by less developed areas such as Lowertown . There are currently two churches active within town limits - First Presbyterian Church & Second Methodist Church . There are also several clubs and organizations active within town limits such as Lakeshore Tennis Club , Polish American Club , United We Stand - Sons Of Liberty

The elevation here varies quite a bit because it includes parts of the Snake River Plain which are much higher than other areas within Lewis County - reaching nearly 5,000 feet (1,500 metres). As with many small towns across America during this time period, bonny lake's growth stemmed largely from its location and access to land that had been available for farming or ranching during earlier periods of Lewis County history. This included large tracts of land now used for housing or other commercial ventures such as logging and fishing industries that sprang up around Bonney Lakesite beginning in the late 1800s.
The first Europeans to visit Bonney Lake were French fur traders in the 17th century. The area was known as "The Great Lakes region" because of the many lakes and rivers here. The first permanent settler in Bonney Lake was a man named John Young, who arrived in 1847. He built a log cabin on the east side of the lake. In 1853, Pierre Dorion, a Canadian fur trader, settled at the mouth of the river that flows into Bonney Lake from Canada. He founded what is now called Dorion River Landing on shoreline along the north bank of the river.
