Scope mounts have been a part of the public life in Bonney Lake for many years. The first Scope Mount was erected on State Route 5, just north of the town limits, in 1907. It was built by local farmers to provide a better view of their land from their homes. In 1914, the first high school in Bonney Lake was built and it needed a mounting platform for its telescope. A group of local businessmen donated new construction equipment and funds to erect a new mount that would allow the school to use the telescope for Astronomy classes. Since then, Scope Mounts have been used by residents and businesses alike to enjoy quality astronomy viewing experiences from their home or office windows! In recent years, there has also been an increase in hand-held scopes being used for astronomy because they are easier and faster to take pictures with than traditional telescopes. The current scope mount at Highline Elementary is one of only three remaining original Scope Masts in existence! It was donated by Highline Community Schools in 2003 and remains operational today as a popular attraction for students, teachers, and staff at Highline Elementary!

Bonney Lake is a small town in Douglas County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,660 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Yakima metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1887 when railway workers decided to set up camp near what would become Bonney Lake. The first post office was established in 1889 and the community name originated with a local rancher, Homan Sage, who named his property "Bonney" after one of his horses that had died during a journey from Oregon to Seattle. In 1906 the first telephone came to Bonney Lake and mail service began two years later. The community saw its biggest growth during World War II when many local farmers moved into the military for work on land that became occupied by Japanese troops during the war. Many residents also worked at Boeing plants in Seattle and Tacoma. After the war ended, many people returned to their homes but development continued through the 1970s and 1980s with several new businesses being opened including a convenience store, restaurant, boat sales shop, doctor's office and school (now known as EasternDouglas High School). In recent years there has been some redevelopment taking place with plans for an apartment complex (Bonney Lakes apartments), a medical center (Bonney Lakes Medical Center) and a new golf course which will be located adjacent to EasternDouglas High School

In 1971, Olympus introduced its own extendible panorama tube system using four tubes that connected together near one end and had another connection at the other end that allowed you to add an extra arm or leg. This system was later renamed the Olympus ExtenderMount and remains in use today.
Bonney Lake was founded in 1872 by James Bonney and his family. The town was named for the lake, which is located in the town. In 1907, the Bonney family donated land to make a school district. The town had two schools when it became a city in 1910. The first school was built on property that is now the Bonney Elementary School. In 1915, the City of Bonney Lake hired architect George Nelson to design its first waterworks system. The city also purchased an old mill from James and his wife Augusta Bonney for use as its library and fire station. In 1928, the City of Bonney Lake annexed neighboring communities of Butte Falls, Maple Hill, and White Salmon River to form a new city with its own government and police department. On November 8, 1957, the city merged with nearby Wenatchee to form bonny lake up until that point
Bonney Lake was one of the original towns in the area that became Bonney Lake County, Washington. It was platted on October 16, 1852 by citizens of Bonney Lake and Eagle River. The town served as a post office from 1853 to 1865. The first school in the area was built in 1854 and it is now known as the Eagle River School District Library. The first store in Bonney Lake was opened in 1861 by Elisha L. Smith and it is now known as Smith's Store. In 1865, the town removed to its present location east of Interstate 95 just north of Highway 99W. In 1932, an airport was constructed at Bonney Lake which served as the primary airport for most of what is now Bonney Lake County. The airport closed down in 1965 and has since been replaced by a small gravel strip southeast of town along I-95 which currently serves as a local farmers market
