The first guns were made in Bellingham and many of the weapons still used today were created here. In 1841, the city of Seattle annexing Bellingham and began manufacturing firearms for its citizens. Gun targets continued to be manufactured here until 1907 when they were discontinued due to concerns over gun violence in Seattle. The Bellingham Gun Club was formed in 1875. It was the first gun club in what is now Bellingham County, Washington. The Bellingham Gun Club met at the old mill on Cascades Road. The club has been meeting since then and currently meets at the Sheriff's office on First Avenue.
Bellingham, Washington is a city in Puget Sound region of the Northwest United States. The population was 17,748 at the 2010 census, making it the largest and second most populous city in Kitsap County. It is the county seat of Kitsap County. Bellingham's economy revolves around information technology and health care services. The first Europeans to visit what is now Bellingham were fur traders working out of wayside shrines on Elliott Bay. In 1819, Captain George Vancouver explored British Columbia and sighted land to the south that would become part of Seattle when he returned home from his mapping expedition in 1821-22. He called this area "Mt Rainier" after his patron saint, but no one knows for sure where Mount Rainier came from or why it was named after him. It finally became known as "Bellingham" because Rear Admiral John A. Bellisborough (1814-1893) served as Commandant of the Navy Yard at present day Bellevue Square in 1851 before becoming Mayor of Seattle in 1861; later he became Superintendent of Public Instruction for King County (now Seattle). In 1862, Washington Territory was created including all present-day Kitsap County except for Bainbridge Island which belonged to Tacoma County until 1889 when it too joined Puget Sound Territory. When Oregon acquired control over parts of Washington Territory following the Civil War, they designated Bainbridge Island as their new county seat with no changed boundaries between Tacoma and Bainbridge Island counties – an arrangement that continued until 1959 when those two counties were united into one under Seattle City Council jurisdiction due to population growth within Seattle itself despite having separate government structures! As a result of annexation bySeattle during that era, muchjl history associated with Tacoma has largely been lost while much remains concerning Bainbridge Island’s role within our community today! It wasn’t until 1912 that voters approved an election measure designating downtown Bellevue Square as their new town center – ground zero for many local businesses and services dating back to this early Days! The first store on East Main Street opened its doors just three years later on November 14th 1916! And tomorrow marks another milestone in our story - 150 years since we landed here on Puget Sound soil!

Bellingham was founded in 1792 as a small trading post on the eastern side of Puget Sound. The town grew rapidly during the 19th century, and by 1907 it had reached its current size. The downtown area is home to a variety of businesses and cultural attractions, including an art museum, a library, and a dozen restaurants. The oldest building in Bellingham is the Fife House, which was built in 1792 by fur trader Alexander McNaught. The first store in Town Center opened in 1905. Today, many of the businesses around Town Center are more than 150 years old. Bellingham's nicknames include "The Venice of Tacoma" because of its great diversity of architecture and landscape; "The Athens of Seattle"; and "the Florence of Puget Sound." In 2007, Bellingham was designated a UNESCO World Heritage City.
Bellingham was founded by the Lays family in 1792. The town grew quickly, and by 1828 had a population of 2,500 residents. In 1835, Bellingham became an incorporated city and experienced rapid growth. By 1860, the population had reached 10,000 people. In 1916, Bellingham became the first city in Washington to be designated as a bilingual enclave.
