He hired prominent architect John Pope Fairbank to design a prototype for what would become Seattle's first skyscraper – "the Tacoma Dome", which still stands today (along with several other buildings designed by Pope Fairbanks). However, when Seattle City Council decided against buying the property outright and built instead a parkland boulevard around it instead, Sertoli lost interest in his project and sold all his shares in Seattle City Hall in 1911. Seattle's first light railway arrived here in 1912: the Seattle & Everett Railway (S&E). Passenger service stopped operation on December 15th 1916 after overbuilt cars were acquired for use on local freight lines only; operations recommenced on May 1st 1917 with new locomotives bought from Canadian Pacific Railway Company The arrival of Interstate 5 soon made streetcar service obsolete along most routes but one: SEPTA's Main Line running south from downtown via Greenwood Avenue towards Union Station served students at Western Washington University until 2013 when I-5 severed those services linkage
Bellingham is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue metropolitan area. Bellingham was founded in 1851 as a small agricultural town on the west side of Lake Washington by settlers from England who came via ship and wagon. The town grew quickly and by 1872 had a population of 1,500 people. In 1898, Bellingham became an incorporated city with a population of 10,000 people. The Bellingham Naval Shipyard played an important role in American naval history during World War II. The yard produced warships such as the USS "Alaska" (1941), USS "Arizona" (1942), USS "Wasp" (1945), and USS "Yorktown" (1946). After the war, the Navy decommissioned most of the ships at the shipyard but kept some for storage until they were sold or scrapped in 1960–1964. Today only two surviving ships from World War II remain at the yard: HMCS "Wichita" and USNS "Everett". In 1971, voters passed an ordinance establishing a local government which would allow for more than one municipality to exist within one county if each voted to do so by referendum; this led to Bellingham becoming both a city and then a suburb of Seattle. After three decades of growth separate from Seattle's downtown core - spurred largely by annexation of adjacent properties - downtown Bellevue lost much of its importance as global businesses moved into new buildings near I-5 and University Way NW. Downtown Bellevue's decline has been matched by that of other parts of King County: over 60 percent of all jobs located in King County are now outside Bellevue proper; median household income has decreased since 2000 while it has remained unchanged within Bellevue itself; streetscape changes have increased traffic congestion on Mercer Street between Everett Avenue and South First Street while reducing property values among those living near Mercer Street;[3] development projects proposed for neighborhoods such as Eastside Park include high-rise apartments without public space or parks,[4] exacerbating neighborhood issues.] A number redevelopment plans are underway or under consideration throughout Bellevue including One Alaska Place mall redevelopment project which will bring 650 jobs to Bellevue through construction alone with associated retail development around it totaling $2 billion dollars over 25 years[5][6][7] 400 acres vacant land east sides park will become mixed use/retail district with skyway connecting it to downtown Bellevue[8], 200 Housing units starting soon [9][10]—all these projects are happening away from what used to be called “Downtown”

Bellingham, Washington is the largest city in King County, Washington. The population was estimated to be over 100,000 as of July 1, 2018. It is the capital of King County and home to the Seattle Seahawks professional football team. The area that now makes up Bellingham was first populated by Native Americans, who called it Puyallup Inlet. The land around present-day Bellingham was purchased from the indigenous people in 1851 by Colonel George Vancouver for £5,000 sterling. The first settler in what is now Bellingham was John Nicholson, who purchased a farm on December 12th, 1852. By 1860 there were 4 buildings in town - a store, a doctor's office and 2 churches - all built by Dutch settlers seeking to establish themselves among the new arrivals from Western Canada coming through Seattle. The growth of the logging and fishing industries led to increased settlement in central Puget Sound region during the 1880s and 1890s. A mill village sprang up around Mount Vernon Dam on Willapa Bay; this grew into what is now downtown Bellingham when Tacoma won its bid to be part of Seattle in 1896. At this time many businesses were located along First Avenue between Union Boulevard and Fifth Street (now SE 242nd St.), including anvilsmithing mills such as Snohomish & Weller sawmills; these companies continued operation until well after World War I when they switched to electric transportation facilities or closed down altogether due to competition from automated machines. Bellingham also became known for its strawberries; during Prohibition many farms exported their fruit through NW Portland ports because no other country would allow exports without proof of quality control! After repeal many farmers moved back into agriculture although some continued exporting until after World War II when refrigeration made export difficult without subsidies from government agencies like USDA/FDA). Bellingham has been credited with being one of America's earliest " bicycle cities." In 1915 two young men named Harry Dexter White and Sidney Hill took up residence near NE 92nd Ave., adjacent to today'sCenturyLink Field (then UW–Seattle), bicycles becoming their main mode of transportation; they started commuting between Beecher Island Park on Mercer Island where they lived off-the-grid until their deaths (now part of Heritage Lake) and downtown Bellingham on Fridays night riding northbound on First Avenue past Haggerty Coliseum then turning east onto NE 182nd Street before stopping at White Hall Bldg., thence continuing east along NE 182nd Street past Kelleher Stadium before concluding at CenturyLink Field! This system continues today with weekday commuters riding southbound on First Avenue past Husky Stadium then turning west onto NE 272nd Street before terminating at CenturyLink Field!
