In 1979-1980, G P Steenkamp took over operation of JW Matson Guns Department after its founder passed away. From 1980-1984 G P Steenkamp ran the company alone before merging with Bob Cooks Manufacturing Company (BCM) in 1984 which left Bellevue with two rifle companies; BCMguns and Steenkampguns both manufacturing semiautomatic pistols only. The first semi-automatic pistol made in Bellevue was called "Bellevue model 101" which was manufactured by Bob Cooks Manufacturing Company between 1984 and 1988.
