Bellevue is part of the Wenatchee–Clackamas Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name Bellevue comes from the French word "Beaucoupe" meaning "fruit plantation". Bellevue was founded by fur traders in 1859 and became a city on July 1, 1907. It lost its status as a city when it incorporated as an unincorporated community and merged with Wenatchee on February 1, 1959. The first post office in Bellevue was established on December 12, 1858. In 1872, Edward Hitchcock opened what would become the first store in Bellevue. By 1888 there were six stores in Bellevue and two hotels. That year also saw the opening of the first telephone line in Walla Walla County when John Denny connected his home to Bell's Telephone Company wire for $4 per month. Bellevue's growth continued through World War I and into Prohibition years; however, during prohibition era most businesses closed their doors because of lack of regulatory support from local government officials. Many residents worked at out-of-state breweries which operated during prohibition; however most businesses reopened after Repeal came about and taxes were increased to help fund Prohibition enforcement efforts After repeal many small businesses closed their doors due to difficulties getting re-registered with new liquor laws; some managed to reopen but became less profitable due to changes in consumption patterns brought about by repeal In 1951 Beverly Hills High School opened its doors for students grades 9-12 after being built on land that had been used as an agricultural market

It is located on the east bank of the Duwamish River between Seattle and Tacoma. Bellevue has a rich history dating back to 1851 when it was known as "Cedar Point". The original town site was on land that now includes much of downtown Bellevue. In 1886, the city was incorporated as part of Seattle and renamed Bellevue in honor of General John A. McClernand who had been killed in Afghanistan earlier that year while serving with U.S. troops there. The name change came about because many people at first thought it would be difficult for a city with only 25,000 residents to be called Bellevue when larger cities such as Seattle and Tacoma had multiple namesakes like 'Bellevue Park' or 'Bellevue Beach'. The first businesses opened in Bellevue soon after its incorporation date; these included a bakery, grocery store and post office which were all owned by brothers Alexander and George Snellman. By 1907, six blocks long (now Fourth Avenue) had been developed including three churches: First Presbyterian Church (1891), Second Presbyterian Church (1892) and Third Presbyterian Church (1907). In 1916, Bellevue's first water system went into operation providing drinking water for everyone within five miles of the city limits - this system later evolved into City Water Systems today! The late 1800s saw some heavy growth injobs within Bellevues borders due to technological advances - one example being an early telephone line going from home to office via streetcars running through our streets! This new technology allowed businesses throughoutKing County to reach out to their customers remotely! Many jobs that still exist today such as computer programming or engineering were done during this time thanks to rapid advancement in technologies! In 1969-1970 CenturyLink built what is now known as 'The Hill' across from & across from Interstate 5 near milepost 116; this massive project created over 1 million jobs directly and indirectly!! Today you can still see remnants of this project including a large concrete pillar towering above 4th Ave & I-5
