Battle Ground, Washington is a census-designated place in Oregon County, Washington, United States. The population was 878 at the 2010 census. Battle Ground is located in the Salmon River Valley and has aviews of Mt. Rainier and the Columbia River. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what would become Battle Ground was Johannes Gutenberg, who arrived in 1847. He founded a small town called Swan Lake on the site of present-day Battle Ground. In 1853, he organized what would become the Northwest Railway Company to build a line from Tacoma to Portland via Battle ground and Olympia. By 1865, all but one mile (1 km) of this line had been built when it was merged with the Pacific Railroad to form Amtrak's Washington branch route 2200 miles (3134 km). The railroad industry declined during World War II; however, it resumed after hostilities ended. In 1945, battle ground became an airfield for Boeing 707s used by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). The airport closed in 1992 but remains listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Halsey Air Force Base Airport #2B-8402; it now serves as an industrial park operated by Clark County government. In 1971, battle ground became home to Central High School when Snohomish County moved its high school from Lyndenwood toBattle Ground following countywide consolidation which took effect that year. Central High School disbanded in 2002 and BattleGround Community School opened as its replacement that same year with 9th-9th grade students from Snohomish County and King County residents attending until 2006 when both schools were combined into Central High School again followed by BattlesGround Community Schools until 2014 when both schools were consolidated into one school district under name Central High School again followed by Battlesground Community Schools once more until 2018 when all three schools reorganized into one school district calledCentral Pupils Academy

Battle Ground, Washington is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,075 at the 2010 census. Battle ground is located on the western edge of Seattle and is bordered by Lake Washington to the north, Queen Anne's Island to the east and Thurston County to the south. It borders Issaquah and Bothell to the west and Redmond to the east. The first European encounter with what is now Battle Ground occurred in 1792 when George Vancouver explored Puget Sound from British Columbia. He sighted an Indian village on land that would later become Battle Ground Township. The first permanent settler in what became Battle Ground was James Chalmers who arrived in 1824. He built a log cabin known as Chalmers' Cabin which still stands today across from modern day Northern Lights Elementary School on Fourth Avenue Northeast (now SW First Avenue Northeast). In 1827, following Treaty of Olympia between Russia and US, Chalmers sold his holdings northeast of present day Battle Ground to John Jacob Astor for $5 per acre ($ ). In 1832-33 Elijah Beall bought land southeast of present day Battleground from James Chalmers for $3 per acre ($ ). Beall developed what would become known as Bealltown which included a small mill dam and sawmill along with three small churches; First Presbyterian Church (1832), Second Presbyterian Church (1834), and Methodist Episcopal Church (1835). By 1840, about 800 people lived in bealltown including 120 farmers and 150 laborers who worked at various businesses such as a store, blacksmith shop, wagon factory, ferry service using Lake Union boats crossing into Elliott Bay for Tacoma passengers going southward on Puget Sound Ferry Company trips across Elliott Bay until 1886 when it became part of Seattle. When King County was organized in 1889 it included all of northwest Seattle including parts of Bellevue and Yakima Counties but notATTLEGROUND because those counties were carved out separately when Crimean Sea Islands Railroad became operational starting in 1901 so that railway traffic could proceed unimpeded through Elliott Bay between Tacoma Superspeedways at Duwamish Landing beyond Edmonds Peninsula onto Juanita Pass near Mount Rainier National Park bypassing most villages except those within 1 mile radius due chiefly to concerns over railroad noise pollution potential while also accommodating farmer growing crops adjacent to tracks leading into their fields thereby reducing demand on local water supplies; this arrangement continued until 1959 when Eaton Valley Road passing through downtown Bellevue severed off passenger rail services through Elliott Bay so that now only freight trains passing through downtown Bellevue stop at Eaton Valley Road where passengers disembark before continuing their journey via bus or train back home leaving behind large stockpiles of merchandise awaiting shipment either via truck or ship arriving daily at Everett docks Priorities changed after September 11th 2001 resulting in increased military activity & construction projects aroundSeattle & adjoining valleys resulting in reduced demand for resources generally makingBattleGround oneof few remaining rural communities withinKingCo.,albeitwith much higher populations residingin big urban areas)
