Roosevelt (1945-1948), Edwin Meese (1981-1983) and most recently Darrell Issa (2011-2015). The first post office opened in 1865 with mail being delivered by stagecoach from Olympia which continued until 1907 when an armored car service called “The Columbia” became available to deliver mail from Tacoma to Everett via Arlington Heights The first telephone line went into operation in 1915 In 1946, Arlington annexed neighboring Methow Valley creating one largest incorporated municipality east of Seattle . In 1951 amendments were made providing for voting districts within city limits while still maintaining separate elections for Mayor/Council members . Since then there have been several attempts by various City Council members – both current incumbents and former incumbents –to change or repeal these provisions but without success . On October 15th 2015 councilmember Darrell Issa announced his candidacy for Mayor following three terms on the Council representing District 7 encompassing much parts of NorthwestSeattle

Arlington is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 25,887 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma Metropolitan Area and forms the eastern border of Redmond. Population growth has made Arlington one of the most densely populated towns in King County. Additionally there are several smaller shopping centers throughout the town. The first settler in Arlington was John Wesley Powell who platted what would become Arlington on December 15, 1851. He named it after George Washington's home state of Virginia and his nephew James Edward Livingston who had been born there two years earlier on November 6th, 1847. The town site was surveyed by John Denny & Co., developers of Seattle, on March 20th, 1857 which marked the beginning of heavy development in Arlington as a center for trade with Puget Sound and eastward to Tacoma via ferries from Lake Union and Olympia Fields along Whatcom River. In 1872 Lawrence Potter became active in developing Arlington through his company Potter Coal Company which mined coal near present day Georgetown Road and Railroad Avenue NW.. Potter Coal Company soon outgrew its land holdings so Potter donated to Arlington Township $1 million to help build a public works system that included schools, churches and other needs such as water supply and lighting systems for African Americans living west of Bellingham while they built homes east of Tacoma according to plans developed by Ebenezer Howard an early advocate for black migration into white America In 1916 Harry Truman served as Mayor pro tem when he won election as Mayor Pro Tem after challenger Woodrow Wilson's resignation due to health concerns In 1922 Ione Selvin became first female elected official when she ran unopposed for a seat on the school board
