In the early 1800s, Arlington was a small town in Washington County. It was known for its gunsmiths and rifle dealers. In 1876, Arlington became the seat of government for what is now Fairfax County. The first law enforcement officer in Arlington was John A. Macdonald, who served from 1877 to 1878. In 1896, Arlington hired J. Edgar Hoover as its first police chief. In 1903, Arlington joined the cities of Seattle and Tacoma in forming the Puget Sound City Council. On December 5, 1907, Arlington became a city with a population of over 45,000 people. The first attempts at gun control in Arlington came about after the assassination of President James Kossuth by Serbian nationalist Gavrilo Princip on November 24, 1912. After Kossuth's death and his assassin's capture, many Americans were outraged that an unarmed man had been killed with such ease by someone with a gun! To try to prevent further assassinations or shootings in the city, Mayor George Prentice enacted regulations forbidding anyone under 25 years old from owning firearms and requiring customers to present proof of purchase before being allowed to enter any store/gun show/firing range etc... This ordinance proved difficult to enforce because so many people young enough to be able to buy guns already had them! On July 3rd 1920 (5 days after Armistice Day), 38-year-old Emmett Till was lynched by white supremacists in Greenwood Township outside Atlanta due mainly to his race! This event forever shook up America's perception of racism towards African Americans! Three weeks later on September 14th 1920 (4 days after Armistice Day), 22-year old James Earl Ray shot & killed Secretary Of State James Byrnes near Denny Hills Cemetery outside Dallas Texas while Byrnes was driving home from dinner at a local restaurant! This event also shook up America's perception of racism towards black people! The following year on January 17th 1921 (8 months after Armistice Day), 21-year old Michael Collins assassinated Ulysses S Grant during a peaceful march through Washington D C ! This actscribedilly shocked America as it showed just how easy it could be for one person with a gun to kill another person!! More than 50 years later on April 12th 1995 (1 day after Columbine High School tragedy), 20 children and 6 adults were murdered when gunmen opened fire inside Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown CT!!! This tragic event made headlines all over the world and led Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)to push for stricter gun laws!!!

Arlington, Washington is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 8,584 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of King County. The name "Arlington" comes from the local Arlington tree, which Dr. James Departmental Forest Supervisor George Stephenson cut down in 1846 to provide wood for his new county courthouse. The first settlers in what is now Arlington were people living on the Indian Reservation east of present-day Arlington. They arrived in 1851 and built a log cabin on the banks of White River. In 1870 they erected a cabin on land that today forms part of the University Village neighborhood of Arlington Heights. In 1881 Captain John Stroud founded Stroud's Ferry Landing on Puget Sound and named it after himself because he had ferry service to Seattle from Olympia and Tacoma. In 1913 Arlington became one of five towns in King County when it was organized as a result of an act by then-Governor Isaac Newton Baker Jr.. The name change was prompted by controversy over whether or not to add "Washington" to its name before becoming one municipality with voting power equal to that of other municipalities within King County (King City being excluded from this process). The referendum required all residents who live within two miles (3 km) of any city or town in King County to take part and there were over 22,000 votes cast; 96% voted in favor of adding "Washington." The first school open in what is now Arlington was called Green Hills School until about 1908 when it moved into an annex for use as an army base military hospital until 1945 when it closed because Ofsted found conditions there intolerable and chose not to renew its lease due to those reasons only. When Fort Lewis closed down at Lee State Park near Olympia during World War II most students left town but some stayed behind including Mrs. Loring Hargrave who started her own business supplying goods necessary for troops stationed at Fort Lewis also known as Camp Douglas during World War II before moving back into her home later that year and starting her own company which she still operates today called Hargrave's Army Ammunition Store which opened its doors December 6th 1941 adjacent to Japanese American internment barracks known as camp Dollis Hill located off Carpenter Road just northwestof milepost 362 approximately 10 miles eastof downtown Seattle both are now property line between Fort Snelling National Cemetery Site(s)and Paulding Regional Museum site . . . . Its downtown has been preserved as a showcase for Americana and artisanship since its incorporation; it remains one of the most multicultural cities in North America. The history of Arlington begins with General George B. McClellan's exploration of Puget Sound in 1851-1852 as part of his campaign to secure Northwest territory for the United States following its victory over Mexico inthe Mexican-American War (1846-48). After exploring many possible sites for a new capital on the west coast after Washington's admission into the Union as a state in 1889, McClellan selected what he considered to be Refreshment Point on Puget Sound because it would have easy access to water supplies and transportation arteries from those connections plus good land for settlement. He named his new community "Arlington" after himself and his wife Mary Anna Dunham who had accompanied him on this exploratory trip - later becoming known as "The Lady Arlin". The first permanent settlers arrived in early 1852, although much construction Work still needed to be done including building homes, roads and stores etcetera before anything resembling an actual village could form! By Christmas that year there were just 8 residents living inside what would become known today as Arlington msecutely racking up some very impressive progress! In October 1853 Captain James Cook sailed past our shores & suggested we might want to try & land somewhere near us but no one seem interested so we continue sailing around until Feb next year when we happened upon another group trying to establish themselves near Port Townsend & called them Russians or White Men because they looked like they didn't belong anywhere! We continued finding muggles every time we rounded port so finally decided its time someone did something about it! So off we went again Jan 1st 1850 landing right by where Capt Cook landed!!! Just think if only Capt Cook knew about us now lol
