In Anacortes, Washington, there have been multiple incidents that have resulted in fatalities or serious injury to individuals who wereinvolved in shootouts. One such incident took place on November 21st, 1990 when five people were killed after a gunbattle between two gangs near the local high school. Another tragedyoccurred on May 3rd, 1992 when seventeen-year-old Michael Jaffe was shot and killed by an unknown gunman while participatingin a game of paintball at an outdoor event near his home. An additional fatality occurred on December 13th, 1998 when Jeffrey Lunsford was fatally shot by another individual whileparticipating in a target practice session at his family’s farmstead outside of Olympia . Although these shootings do not specifically relate to SHDs, it is importantto remember that each one involved an act of violence where someone was injured or killed asa result of gunfire. As Americans continue to experience increased levelsof firearm ownership and safety awareness, it is important for us all to ensurethat we are properly protecting ourselves from any potential danger encounteredwhile engaging in target practice activities.

Anacortes, Washington has a long history of handgun safety and training. In the early days of the area’s Pistol Shooting Club, instructors taught men how to safely shoot pistols. The club was founded in 1936 and still meets monthly to offer instruction and target shooting. In 1976, the Washington State Legislature passed a bill compelling all gun stores in the state to provide training for their customers on safe handgun handling and storage. This law also mandated that all handguns be registered with the state police. Today, Anacortes is home to several pistol ranges as well as a variety of other shooting activities.
Anacortes is a city in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 21,835 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Kitsap County. It was founded in 1883 by Captain George A. Smith and named after Anacortes, an Australian port on the coast of Baja California Mexico. The first white settler in Anacortes was Fenton Sperling who arrived in 1882. He built a small frame house on what is now First Street and named it Sperling's Hotel after himself and his family. Around this time, several other settlers also arrived including John Hammond who settled near Third Avenue and Holmes Road In 1885 James Waddell came to the area from Olympia with his family and named his farm "Waddell's Grove". By 1888 there were over 25 families living in Anacortes with about 150 buildings constructed or under construction including 3 churches (Anglican, Methodist Episcopal, Presbyterian), 2 schools (primarily for school children of German immigrants),several stores (owned by Dutchmen Hiram Hendricksen & Company; J C & Son grocery store; G Marshall saddles; Hansen & Company millinery shop), two hotels (Captain George A Smith's hotel & Captain George Sperling's hotel) and various others businesses such as a bakery (Emmett Henson bake shop), photographer/photography business (JF Laughlin Photography) In 1901 Captains Smith & Waddell sold their interest in Anacortes to D P Hubbard which made it an incorporated town although it still used the name "Anacortes." In 1907 Hubbard changed its name to Kitsap County when King County became organized within Washington state. Kitapsville followed suit soon afterwards becoming part of the larger community described herein In 1916 when World War I began America entered into World War I along with Great Britain which directly implicates Kitsap County as both countries had military installations hereabouts . On November 8th 1916 American soldiers were landed at Seattle Municipal Airport by U-boat USS Holland America Type XXI submarine just north of Puget Soundoilrig Light Station northwest of present day Seattle proper having come ashore on board via launch ramps that led down into Puget Sound from southern shoreline onto sand beaches some distance offshore where they were met by local naval forces commanded by Rear Admiral Harry Hopkins aboard USS Holland America while underway offshore conducting exercises off Bainbridge Island Naval Air Station located just east of current day Tacoma Harbor east sideofsound extending out into Elliott Bay waters about midway between Lopez Point Light House Grounds nearest point westward about sound abutting Just southwesterly shoreline sister shipUSS Holland America lay anchored approximately southwesterly longitude 23 degrees 00 minutes North latitude 116 degrees 05 minutes Westlongitude . This exercise provided valuable experience for future campaigns against submarines operating inside territorial waters within our nation's exclusive economic zone during these critical early days following World War 1 . During mycommanding officercy during those years we annually conducted similar maneuvers off Bainbridge Island Naval Air Station most likely demonstrating our ability to operate RCM(Remote Control Missile)type aircraft type trainers etc... today we would never dream of undertaking such activity without prior warning or consent from appropriate authorities! Today many people think back on those early days when life was much more simple then today...or maybe they only remember how difficult things were due to active military service going on around them
