Anacortes is a town in King County, Washington, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 17,976. It is the county seat of King County. The first gun protection movement in Anacortes began in the early 1800s when Native Americans began using firearms to protect their villages from white settlers and traders. Over time, other groups joined the effort to protect their rights and safety with guns. In 1892, Anacortes implemented city ordinance #16-5 which banned handguns from all public areas within the city limits; this law was later repealed by City Council resolution #2-19. The first shooting in Anacortes took place on October 10th 1892 when three men were shot at point blank range while sitting around a fire near Main Street and Airport Drive. This event is often cited as one of the earliest shootings in Anacortes history and has been credited with catalyzing the development of gun protection movements throughout King County. In 1898, Mayor John Fenton enacted an ordinance that prohibited registered handguns from being carried into or out of City Hall without a license from the mayor or deputy mayor; this law was later repealed by referendum vote#1 (May 2nd 1899). In 1904, Mayor George Hahn passed an ordinance that regulated handgun ownership within city limits; this law was later repealed by referendum vote (October 3rd 1905). In 1907, Mayor John Ahern passed an ordinance which limited handgun possession to residents who possessed a valid permit from city police; this law was later repealed by referendum vote (November 5th 1907). In 1912 Mayor Arthur Wirth proposed an amendment to ordinances regarding handguns ; this amendment would have allowed citizens to possess pistols “for scientific purposes only” without having to obtain a permit from city officials. Unfortunately for proponents of this amendment, it failed to pass through both houses of government before it too died another death attempt two years later (#15-4). The original Anacortese people were hunters and gatherers who migrated from Asia Minor to the area around what is now Anacortes in the late 4th century BC. The first Europeans to visit the area were missionaries from Spain in 1792, and they named the place San Lorenzo de los Angeles after Saint Laurent de Caen, bishop of Amiens (France). In 1881, when Puget Sound was bought by Washington Territory, Anacortes became part of that territory. The town's economy changed with the opening of Interstate 5 in 1962; development has since slowed down but it remains an important transportation hub for both rural and urban residents. The City Council consists of nine members elected at-large on a partisan basis with two seats reserved for independents; one seat rotated every two years among three independent councilmembers who are also registered Democrats or Republican; and four members appointed by Governor Jay Inslee to serve four-year terms with no term limit. Elections are held on November 3rd every year using a single vote system where all citizens over 21 years old can cast ballots regardless of political affiliation. The Mayor is chosen through election by city councillors rather than being chosen by majority vote from among their colleagues on Councilmember’s Districts/ wards - which gives more power back to individual councillors who have responsibility for their neighbourhoods/ areas within the City limits instead of simply serving as mouthpieces for larger issues affecting all residents within their respective districts/ wards throughout King County (the wider metropolitan area).

It also allowed for much larger armies than before because it could be easily transported and crewed by soldiers. The first guns were constructed in 1564 A.D., when Henry VIII developed his new form of artillery called “catapult guns” which could shoot huge stones that had a high explosive force. In 1692 A D., Cromwell established the Royal Artillery Company which was responsible for building new calibers of cannon as well as maintaining old ones throughout England and Wales

The town grew rapidly due to its location near the Puget Sound Naval Shipbuilding Center and other businesses and services that developed around it. In 1916, Anacortes became a city when it annexed neighboring Olympia. The growth of Anacortes has caused problems with transportation: its streets are too wide for buses to run properly, while subways have not been built to serve the city's growing population efficiently.
Anacortes, Washington was founded in 1847 by Captain John W. Cooke as a port on the Juan de Fuca coast. The town grew rapidly and by 1860 had 5,000 residents. It became an important center for agricultural production and shipbuilding during the 19th century, and also developed into a major commercial center. In 1907 Anacortes was renamed Tacoma after its first mayor, James A. Webster.
