Since the late 1800s, Waynesboro has been a major center for ammunition production in the Virginia Peninsula. Ammunition manufacturers have used Waynesboro as their primary manufacturing and storage facility for their products since before the turn of the century. Today, Waynesboro is home to a diverse array of ammo businesses, including two major reloading supply stores and three Shooting Sports retailers. Waynesboro's history with ammunition begins with early rifle powder companies such as Winchester and Lever Brothers. In 1892, Winchester merged with lever-action manufacturer Stevens & Sons to form Winchester-Stevens Corporation. The company began producing shotgun shells under the name Crosman in 1896. With its new ownership, Winchester began expanding into ammunition production, first producing 2-inch rounds for shotguns and later 4x32mm rounds for rifles and handguns. In 1928, Winchester introduced its first 9x19mm round at an event held in Phoenixville, PA. At this event, Winchesters announced that it would begin marketing reloadable Berger bullets under the name Hornady Bullets*fn1**.* In 1938, Sigma Arms acquired Winchester-Stevens Corporation and rebranded it as Sigma Ammunition Company*.fn2**.* By this time*, Sigma had become one of America's leading handgun producer(*fn3*) and rifle producer(*fn4*) due to its innovative products such as Accurate Rifle Ballistics (ARB) software (*fn5*) and Barnes Bullets(*fn6). In 1958*, Sigma merged with American Machine Guns Corporation (AMG) to create what would become one of America's largest firearms manufacturers (*fn7). At AMG*, Rowland Smith served as president until his death in 1984*fn8*. Smith was responsible for initiating many of AMG's famous product lines such as 6 mm NATO (.308 Win), .45 ACP (), 7 mm Remington(7/8") Magnum (.458 Win Mag), 8 mm Mauser (.380 ACP), 10 mm Luger (.10 S&W *) * fn9., * fn10., * fn11., * fn12., * fn13., ** nomenclature changed during 2000s when Ithaca Ammo became part of Cornish & Hooker

Waynesboro is a small town located in Virginia, approximately 20 miles northeast of Richmond. The population was 2,828 at the 2010 census and 3,000 in 2016. Waynesboro is the most populous community in Prince William County. The first people to live here were the Powhatan Indians who arrived around 1700. They burned down much of their village during a storm on October 10, 1777. The British founded Waynesboro as a trading post in 1793 and it prospered until 1814 when the U.S. acquired it from Britain. In 1825, John Cramer built an agricultural factory here which became one of the largest employers in Waynesboro with more than 100 employees at its peak. The community declined after World War II because of competition from larger towns and factories throughout Virginia. However, over time Waynesboro has regained some of its former prosperity as a bedroom community for nearby Richmond and Norfolk. Today, there are about 50 businesses operating in Waynesboro with many contributing to its economy including: restaurateurs such as China Miéville's Red Dragon Inn, Applebees Restaurant Group's Pie Palace Pizza Place & Taverns and Burger King; real estate developers such as David Bogue which developed Stadium Drive into an upscale shopping center; and truckstop operators like Valero Energy station that have made way for new businesses like Sirri Coffee & Tea Company and Mount Vernon Lodge Bed & Breakfast restaurant since 2000.

Waynesboro is a small town located in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. It was founded by white settlers in 1785 and became an incorporated town in 1853. The town is named after General James Wayne, who fought against British forces during the American Revolution. Waynesboro has a population of about 10,000 people and is the county seat forburg County. Waynesboro was originally part of Frederick County. In 1853, it became part of Burgundian County, which was renamed Rappahannock County in 1877 after General Robert E. Lee’s victory at Appomattox Court House. The towns of Farmville and Winchester were also founded in this time period. In 1908, Waynesboro lost its status as a county seat when burgundian County was merged into Fairfax County. Today, Waynesboro is an unincorporated community located within Fairfax County. The first settler to arrive in WAYNESBORO were George Washington Carver and his family who arrived in 1785 from North Carolina on a ship called the "Providence". They built a cabin on what is now known as Carver Road/Route 9A near present-day Route 3 south of town center. The first school was built here by Rev Dr John Witherspoon around 1800-1801 under the name Christ Church School #1 (now known as First Baptist Church). Reverend Witherspoon taught English and math to local Native Americans before moving on to become pastor at nearby Winchesterchurch Parish (later Second Presbyterian Church). There are still some descendants of these early residents living today throughout the community including George Washington Carver’s grandson William Hargrave Carpenter III who resides in Waynesboro Center with his wife Wendi Parks Carpenter and their two children: Samantha (born 1997) and Wyatt (born 1999). In 1848, wayne'sboro had a population estimated at seventy three souls but due to wagon train travel there wasn't much development until 1860 when one package from England arrived that included Indian artifacts such as pottery shards found at Sudley Ford Site #2 & accompanying letters from Gouverneur Morris dated Mar 1st 1861 . This spurred more interest among officials including Congressman James Ladd who sent Colonel Lewisand Major Semmesworth with orders to inspect all sites along I-81 looking for any possible land grants or warrants for purchase especially considering that many families were struggling financially during this time period ..... Some members felt like they needed more space so began construction on what would eventually become Main Street which ran between Sudley Ford Site #2 & 4 just outside present day waynesboro limits On July 5th 1865 while surveying property east of present day route 9A off N37° 58′ W122° 33′ upon arriving northbound following US 12 Alternate traveled approximately concurrent with turning onto N38° 05′ W121° 57′ becomes apparent there exists potential instructionally related future cemeteries/ cemetery lots being surveyed & while making inquiry regarding property boundaries surveyors believed it necessary to determine if lot extended northerly or easterly beyond current limits frm original surveyor plat only approved boundary northwesterly .... After further investigation it appears Lots 2&4 may have been privatized however Lot 1 remains within bounds.... Upon completion Surveyors determined lots 2&4 extending northerly beyond current limits were sold..... It should be noted that no land patents resulted from this transaction
