In 1902, he founded the Hawkins Airgun Manufacturing Company and began producing guns made of brass and steel. The company continued to grow for many years, becoming one of the leading producers of airguns in the United States. In 1938, Hawkins passed away and his company was bought by Halyard Airgun Works, which continues to produce airguns today. Waynesboro was founded in 1749 by Colonel William Waynesborough and became an incorporated town in 1872. The town's location on the Rappahannock River has made it a trade center for agricultural products and lumber from nearby forests. The Waynesboro School System serves students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, with one high school, Waynesboro Junior High School, open until 8:00 A.M. on Fridays and Saturdays; as well as three middle schools (First Grade to eighth grade) that follow the same curriculum as the four elementary schools but offer morning programming for Pre-Kindergarten to Eighth grade students starting at 6:00 A.M.. Waynesboro also has two restaurants - Gilded Cage Public House and White Horse Tavern - which serve up traditional English fare such as bacon wrapped dates, ham hocks, apple tartare, fish dinner specialties etc., along with Americanized versions of these dishes like pulled pork sandwich or gyros served with sides including tzatziki sauce or roasted tomatoes onion wedges etc.; both restaurants are open 7 days a week from 5:00 Pm.-11:00 Pm.. Waynesboro is located within easy reach of many activities including hiking/biking trails surrounding beautiful Skyline Park just minutes away on Interstate 81A while also being close to other universities including George Mason University (GMU), Marshall University (MU), Randolph-Macon Community College (RMC) and Appalachian State University (ASU). Additionally, local attractions include Antietam Battlefield National Monument & Museum located less than one miles away on I-81A Exit 221 off Route 460 while also featuring exhibits about Confederate General Robert Ewell Sampson's life and battles fought there during the Civil War era

Waynesboro is a small town located in Buchanan County, Virginia. The population was 7,811 at the 2010 census. Waynesboro is part of the Petersburg-Erlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlement in what is now Waynesboro was established by George Washington and his army during the American Revolution. In 1781, General Cornwallis destroyed a local Indian village near Waynesboro without battle and without taking any prisoners. The British military commander, Major General Edmund Randolph, blamed Washington for this act and accused him of being a traitor to his country. In retaliation, Washington burned down two barns in nearby Fairfax County as part of a reprisal campaign against Randolph. In 1812, General James Aiken ordered Captain Robert Ewell to build an arsenal at Waynesboro for use by the Confederate Army during the War of 1812. Ewell successfully completed the project before he died in 1814 at age 33 from disease contracted while working on the armory project. In 1816, Judge John Swayne erected a log courthouse in honor of himself and three others who had been killed when their wagon train was ambushed while traveling through Indian Territory along I-85 near Topeka, Kansas on its way to ethanol production plants inanol production plants across America. The original court building still stands today as part of downtown Waynesboro's Main Street Historic District (see photo). In 1865, following Union victory over Confederate forces at Appomattox Court House outside Petersburg), President Andrew Johnson issued Executive Order No._ 10798 which ordered all African Americans within five miles of Richmond must leave that city or face violence from white people unless they registered with Federal authorities and granted permission to stay by presenting an "alien registration certificate." As result of this order many black men living within five miles of Richmond were sent forcibly into slavery or transportation away from their homes for resettlement in states such as Texas and Arkansas where slavery continued until emancipation some years later. After Reconstruction ended following Civil War era there was growth throughout southern Virginia due to new immigrants coming into Appalachia seeking opportunities for work and education which led to increased trade between southwestern Virginia & southeastern Pennsylvania due to railroads being built across those regions making goods available far beyond traditional market areas which helped create rural technological hubs like Pittsburgh & Philadelphia becoming major metropolitan areas respectively paralleling industrial centers like Detroit & Cleveland opening up similar economic opportunities throughout Appalachia resulting in many residents moving out westward into urban areas including Nashville/Davidson Tennessee; Wichita Falls TX; Amarillo TX; Springfield IL; El Paso TX; Dallas TX; Aurora CO; Ft Worth TX etc., creating what is known today as the " Appalachian belt" which includes much Southern West Virginia Valley ridge land stretching from eastern Kentucky southward into Tennessee extending eastward into Alabama then southward again forming parts of Georgia & Florida etc., leaving behind pockets scattered throughout central Appalachia including Waynesboro as well as numerous smaller townships dotting these valleys with no real central location other than general travel routes connecting these peripheral locations making it difficult if not impossible for outsiders even attempting comprehensive overviews chronicling this unique region's history let alone conducting research on specific individuals or events involved herein
