Any Person Who Shall Carry An Unlicensed Pistol Or Shotgun Within These limits Will Be Punished As Seldom As Possible But Most severely." After much debate among townspeople about whether or not arming themselves would be necessary against future attacks they eventually passed an ordinance allowing pistol carrying without a license on July 1st 1802!. 5) Another important event surrounding gunfire protection occurred on October 20th 1799 when four militia members stormed through town gate & took controlofThe arsenal leaving behind three handguns (& five rifles)! Salem, Virginia was founded in 1753 by the Reverend Samuel Adams. The town was named after the Salem witch trials of 1692-1693, during which many people were executed for their beliefs in witchcraft. The current population of Salem is around 25,000. Salem is a small town with narrow streets and a single main square. There are few businesses and most of the residents are small farmers or fishermen. The first settlers in what is now Salem were Dutch immigrants who arrived in 1624. They built a small cabin on the bank of the James River and started to grow crops. In 1753, when Samuel Adams moved from England to America, he decided to settle in this area because it had been claimed by both English and Dutch settlers as part of present-day Virginia. WhenAdams founded Salem, he chose to named his new town after himself – Samuel Adamsville (after himself). There were many early pioneers who located in what is now Salem because it offered good land for farming and fishing: John Nicholson, Daniel Boone, James Cook, Benjamin Franklin and Robert Eads all came here during its early years. Today, most of the original buildings from these days remain standing – including Nicholson's Tavern which still serves drinks today! The town was originally called Westmoreland until 1802 when it became part of Fairfax County under President George Washington's orders following his victory at Yorktown over British forces that year. At that time Westmoreland became Arlington County while Arlington proper remained within Fairfax County boundaries until 1889 when it became part ofVA Beach along with much else within VA Beach district today! The name change may have been due to Arlington's location on horseback between west Fairfax County thoroughfares (then Route 1) and east Richmond Heights Avenue while Westmoreland lay across Route 21 north of Interstate 95! However there has never been any definitive proof as to why “Westmoreland” changed hands several times before finally becoming Arlington where it does today...perhaps because everyone associated with the place wanted something different? It helps that “Westmoreland” included two taverns - one called Applebee's which stands today on North 4th Street near downtown Arlington; another known as Hagerty House which burned down but was rebuilt adjacent to Hagerty Parkstill standing today back then; also including an old Masonic Lodge which stood at what is now 24th Street NW between I-95/I-495 & RFK Jr Boulevard - right next door (now occupied by some apartments!)
