Salem, Virginia is home to one of the most significant gun traditions in the United States. The town was once known for its production of rifles and pistols, and today it is known for its annual Gun Show. The Gun Show began as a simple event in 1903, when a group of businessmen from Salem gathered to discuss ways to improve their town's economy. The Gun Show has since become an important part of the local community calendar, and it has brought together many famous faces from throughout history. This year's event will features a variety of firearms including handguns, shotguns, rifles, and even autoloading weapons. The History of the GunShow Salem is sprawling beyond simply Guns and Ammo; It stretches back over 125 years! One can find various items related to shooting at ranges or events throughout that time period here: rifles dating back as early as 1851 (the first rifle factory in America), pistols starting in 1865 (the earliest law enforcement pistol program in America), shotguns going up in popularity around 1915-1916 (just after prohibition ended), cannons being produced beginning in 1854 (!), motorcycles becoming popularized at this point too (though not actually seen at theGunShow until later!), ice cream first appearing at this event by 1922 (!), postcards being created starting about 1935 (!), live music beginning about 1951 (!), cars becoming popularized around 1965 (!)… you get the picture! What makes Salem so special when it comes to hosting one of these renowned events? Well aside from pure fun all weekend long there are also many historical artifacts on hand that make for amazing displays or photos opportunities: Not only do we have replica firearms made specifically for our show by our own volunteers – sometimes exclusive to us – but we also have some original firearms on hand from both before and after Salem's incorporation into Virginia! There's something for everyone who visits our show this year!
There is no one answer to the question of what makes a good gun target.
