Richmond, Virginia is known as the capital of the Confederacy. The city was founded in 1777 by General George Washington and became a major center for manufacturing during the slave trade era. After the Union victory at Appomattox Court House in 1865, Richmond experienced a period of growth as a center for education and politics. In 1871, Richmond became an incorporated city and began to develop into a major commercial and industrial center. During World War I, however, British shortages led to significant German demand while German exports led British producers to increase output by 50%. This situation changed following World War I when Allied forces devastated Germany with greater numbers of tanks than any previous warfighter thanks largely to American arms superiority2 AfterWorldWarI , Arsenal Corporation built one of America's largest gun factories outside Chicago - located adjacent to Wm Fuhrman Company's tool company on Monument Avenue - which helped jumpstart American armament production once again (Fuhrman had been acquired by Westinghouse Electric Company earlier that year). With continued demand from both domestic users (the military) as well as export customers such as Great Britain (whose munitions industry was crippled after 1918), Westinghouse produced more guns then any other American manufacturer combined through 19454 During this time period there also emerged sizable black Ammunition wholesalers active within professional society including John Sibley & Sons5; Armour Smith & Wesson6; J H Meyers7; Elam Arms8; Alfred Eisenstaedt9; Augustus Kelley10; John Ransom11&12and many others13

When Mexico captured Texas in 1848, Texas claimed Reynosa (present-day Monterrey), Nuevo Laredo (present-day Tijuana), Santa Fe de las Vegas (present-day Carson City), Victoria (present-day El Paso) and parts of Bexar County as part of its territory; these areas were included within Mexican Tamaulipas Province until 1860 when they were transferred to US occupancy as part of General Antonio Lopez Austin's effort to conquering Mexico during the Mexican–American War. As this happened many old Spanish/Mexican buildings – such as churches dating back tothe colonial period – were destroyed or forced to change hands multiple times before finally coming into American ownership. In 1861 Confederate General Robert E. Lee occupied Petersburg while his army fought against Union forces near Fredericksburg; following Union victory over Confederate General Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865Lee moved his army north towards Washington Dc., but was defeated at Chancellorsville on May 6th 1865 by Union General George Custer; prior to this battle Confederates had unsuccessfully tried to move upriver towards Waco where President Abraham Lincoln had gathered supplies before his speech commemorating Gettysburg Address two days earlier
