He was buried there in 1865 with his wife Julia and their two children: Robert Ewell Jr., age 9 months old at the time (he died one year later), and Elizabeth Atherton née Pogue age 5 months old at that time (she still lives here). On December 12th 1861 General Ewell's widow Julia had six more children - four sons named George W., John W., Alexander H., & Peyton C - when her husband's body was brought back from Gettysburg to be interred there beside him On July 14th 1881 Radford voters ratified a local option ordinance allowing women to vote for the first time in this Nation's history In 1918 Union Station reopened after being closed for many years due to fire damage caused by an exploding munitions factory nearby The original train depot now stands across the street from where it once did . This building served as both a post office and general store before it burned down in 1911 . The present civic center opened in 1922 . There are also several shops around town including a dress shop, bakery/cafeteria, hardware store, gasoline station etc ... One main shopping artery for residents today is called "The Avenue" which runs east-west through downtown . That avenue includes most of what remains of William Seward Park which he donated land for ..... Most people hereabouts would say that “the good times have never been so good” since World War II ended .... A group of British soldiers under Forbes casualties led to a decisive battle which ended with victory for General Forbes’ army over the Shawnee warriors. This event helped spur further American development east of Fairfax County line; it also signaled beginning of America’s military expansion into Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma). In 1814, when Virginia became a United States state, Radford became its capital as well as one of its five original states located along Maryland’s eastern border. Today, much like many other rural communities throughout America’s Heartland regions – including those located in Middle Tennessee – Radford has seen steady growth both economically and politically over recent decades thanks to efforts spearheaded by city leaders in nearby Roanoke Rapids (the county seat) and Lynchburg (the largest city within Virginia’s Eastern Shore region).
