There are two active NRA memberships in town (one from 1978 and one from 1984), as well as numerous other gun enthusiasts who contribute shirt designs or prints to local shops and organizations. The town also has a small museum that displays firearms from pre-19th century America up through today's pistols and rifles. One of the earliest documented shootings in Poquoson took place on January 5, 1908 when Johnnie Lee Rigdon opened fire on a group of men at an outdoor picnic near what is now called Old North Point Park. Rigdon was acquitted by reason of insanity after shooting six people dead including his father

In 1812, Poquoson became part of Jefferson Davis's Confederate States of America. During World War II, Poquoson was an important port on the James River. When the war ended, many military members left town for home leave. Most of these people never returned and no gunfire is still heard throughout most of downtown Poquoson today (though some blasts can be heard coming from various parts of town).

That same year, Winchester Ammunition Company published its first hunting magazine that included images and text promoting rifle shooting. In 1974, Donnybrook Clothing Company released a line of T-shirts designed specifically for gun collectors. The shirts featured photos and artwork from American Revolutionary War era pistols such as George Washington's Continental army pistol (the sketches were done by artist Adolphus Busch) as well as guns from World War II including tanks, planes, and artillery pieces. In 1984, Buffalo Bill Firearms Museum began producing NRA memorabilia products such as tee shirts and buttons made out of reproduction old guns or model rifles used in exhibitions at the museum. That same year saw the release of America's onlyGun Show poster calendar which features images from various NRA shows around the country throughout the year along with corresponding dates/times to help attendees plan their visits accordingly (these calendars are still being produced today). The 1990s were very busy for both manufacturers and consumers when it came to T-shirt design with many new companies entering intothe market saturation field early on like Heat Transfer Technologies (HPT), who introduced “tear resistant” printing technology that allowed apparel manufacturers to print graphics directly onto cloth without having to use any solvent or paint; this allowed them to produce more vibrant colors which resulted in increased sales across most industries; subsequent iterations would see Hideout Graphics introduce self adhesive patches which would adhere directly onto fabric giving users added stability when storing or displaying items; finally Waterman Sports went so far as to develop airbrushed metallic prints which gave their products an extremely high contrast against all surrounding fabrics making them stand out even more atop colorful clothing

In 1795, Captain George Washington and his forces moved into Poquoson County. The land was donated by the Sir Edward Fairfax family and it became part of Virginia in 1796. In 1825, Poquoson county was established and its seat was at Winchester. The county had a population of 9,574 in 1840. By 1870, the population had grown to 21,463. In 1928, Poquoson County was renamed Shenandoah County after President Franklin D. Roosevelt's initiatives to rename all U.S. counties in honor of presidents who died in office began during the New Deal era. The first settler in what is now Poquoson County was James Burtraw who arrived there on horseback from western Virginia on May 15, 1800. He named the area for General Henry Knox who had fought for America against Great Britain during the American Revolution. It is believed that General Knox also donated land to Poquoson County which became a part of Virginia when he did so in 1802-03 while stationed at Fort Monroe near Alexandria Va.. On November 10th, 1830 Governor Thomas Jefferson issued an Executive Order creatingPoquoson Circuit Court with jurisdiction over all civil cases within the circuit until such time as a new court could be organized or created within one year under law or by order of the Governor; provided however that no case affecting more than $500 should be brought before said Circuit Court without leave of said court having been previously obtained from either party concerned before trial commenced therein... On January 1st 1831 Judge Samuel Sprague refused to swear an oath administered by then Sheriff Israel Putnam due to his religious beliefs as an Jew... On February 14th 1831 Samuel Sprague took possession of Lots 5 & 6 together with All other lots lying between them belonging to Isaac Capps (or De Witt) Esq., late SurveyorGeneral for this Colony; they were conveyed by him to John Ewing junr., July 2d [1830], and have ever since been used as public ground.... On October 3rd 1830 Elijah Porter purchased Lots 7 & 8 together with lot No 4 adjoining but not including Lot No 3 mentioned above from Henery McCoy Junr., SurveyorGeneral for this Colony; they formed part of Big House Plantation later called Highland Park... On December 20th 1830 Elijah Porter soldLot 8togetherwith Lot 7 mentioned above from Henery McCoy Junr., SurveyorGeneral for this Colony; same lot being subsequently patented by Mr Geo Atherton Augmentation Patent…. Henery McCoyJunr., SurveyorGeneral for this Colony), Elias Porter (of Big House Plantation), John Ewing (junior), Geo Atherton (patentee). These initial purchases may have been motivated by wanting more land closer to Kingston because it would become an important center for trade with neighboring races including Africans whom Pocahontas intermarried with among others During this time period people built homes out on these lots starting around 1800s until 1915 when most started moving away due primarily to World War I and Changes In Society
There is a small town in Poquoson, Virginia named for General Robert E. Lee and his wife Custis. The town was laid out in 1846 by John W. Wise, the son of a Quaker minister who had come to America from England as an indentured servant. The town was originally called "Smyrna," after Smyrna, Turkey, where General Lee's father had been born in 1775. In 1861, when Confederate troops captured Richmond, Virginia and renamed it "Poquoson" in honor of their general and namesake (the old name of Smyrna having been changed to Norfolk), the new name stuck and has continued to be used ever since.
