And while there are numerous theories about why Lee choose to arm himself with firearms specifically intended for combat, one factor is clear: he wanted his troops to be able to fight effectively against Union forces without fear of being shot by their own comrades. By 1871, Confederate munitions manufacturers had become quite successful and had turned their attention towards producing rifles and shotguns exclusively for military purposes rather than civilian consumption. This change helped contribute significantly to Confederate arms superiority over Union forces during much of Reconstruction period in America (1865-1877). However, after Richmond was taken by Union forces following 1865 – primarily through Operation Anaconda –gun production ceased completely on both sides of the struggle and few new Firearms were manufactured anywhere within Confederate borders again until well into World War II

The city also built several new parks and renovated many others over time including Coles Park which opened in 1890 as one of only four public parks remaining in Alexandria afterRichmond's incorporation into Virginia; Easton Park; Petersburg Landing Park (); Arlington Heights; and West Point Park (). Most recently, development along Interstate 95 has taken place adjacent to Petersburg Regional Airport making it much more diverse than when it first began developing around 1940s
