In 1968, Winchester Firearms Corporation merged with Colt Incorporated to create Colt USA Corporation. At this point, Colt had production operations across North America including facilities in Norfolk. Today, ColtUSA produces many types of handguns including revolvers (single or double action), pistols (a variety of styles including breaching arms), rifles (including assault rifles and tactical shotguns), shotguns (including pump guns) and ammunition. The company has been pulled back several times during its history but it has never failed to survive and continue manufacturing high quality firearms that are used by millions around the world

Some notable events from Norfolk's past include: -In 1607 Jamestown settlers established their first permanent settlement in what would become Norfolk when they landed on the Eastern Shore from England after crossing the ocean in a small boat. -In 1755, Portsmouth Smyth founded Norfolk as an open-air trading post on what would later become known as Smyth Island near today's downtown core. -Although wealthy tobacco growers had long controlled much of eastern Virginia before this time, development of Tidewater waterways - particularly through developing salt marshes - led to increased maritime traffic along these routes which created new opportunities for businesses like Smyth & Sons Dock& Warehouse Company and others to prosper during this period. Aqueducts were constructed throughout southeastern Virginia during this era to bring water from Potomac River downriver into areas such as Hampton Roads where it could be used for irrigation or roadway construction; one notable example is King Street Aqueduct which ran northeast from Alexandria across James River Valley to Abram Point near modern day Portsmouth. Norfolk was chartered by Governor Patrick Henry on November 3rd, 1801 as an official town within Anne Arundel County due to its importance linking Tidewater communities surrounding Prince George’s County via trade routes connecting Baltimore/Washington Davenport Railway (later Baltimore & Ohio Railroad) with points eastward along tidewater riverside valleys interior through lower Maryland etching inland valleys flooring over older coastalplain bedrock making transportation possible overland wading .
